A shackled detainee was thrown to the ground, placed in a WRAP full-body restraint, and carried onto today's ICE Air flight at MSP. This is the first time we've seen the device used in Minnesota. If a loved one may have been aboard, full loading sequence is here: youtube.com/watch?v=MEMv2ngB1GI

This afternoon in Marble Hill, a New Yorker was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighborhood. Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds. We believe the child was physically unharmed.

This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation. I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities.

Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker and his family tonight. We are praying for his recovery.

Get ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children.

Abolish ICE.

This was a fun one to record. The Harit Setu plan is very cool. Instead of a piecemeal approach—a short bike lane here, a fixed intersection there—the city is redesigning entire neighborhoods at once to create complete networks of bike lanes and continuous sidewalks as well as green infrastructure.

Since we’re doing another round of “AI will destroy humanity” doom-hype, it’s a good time to announce a new paper myself and my postdoc advisor just had accepted by BioSocieties on just this. TL;DR: almost all the “AI can make bioweapons” literature comes ultimately from the Effective Altruists.

Someone just reminded me that Huang recently used *this* metaphor to describe AI www.ap.org/news-highlig...
Huang contended that there is a need for some government regulation and safety standards for AI, emphasizing that national security also needed to be a priority for the technology that has been powering stock market gains and U.S. economic growth in recent years.

Huang said society will adapt to AI just as it did to automobiles. He said cars were once portrayed as killing children, but the world changed its norms by having sidewalks and crosswalks and stopping kids from playing in the streets.

Huang skeptical of what government ownership of AI companies would achieve

Don't know what to say anymore
Protesters amassed in Gosport, Hampshire, after rumours spread that the migrants might be brought ashore by lifeboats there. Police closed off access roads to the marina as activists rallied by Thomas on YouTube arrived to attempt to block the boat’s arrival. Crowds of masked protesters confronted a line of police to chants of “let them drown” sung by a child over a megaphone.

Scatter plot titled "Average of 4 workflows: accuracy vs cost" comparing AI models from TypeSafe, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Fireworks across accuracy (y-axis, 40% to 80%) and cost per workflow in USD on a logarithmic scale (x-axis, $0.0001 to $1).
Data points are split into two categories: workflows (diamonds) and single prompts (circles). A frontier line highlights the most efficient workflow models—where no point is both cheaper and more accurate—connecting Jev (TypeSafe) at $0.0002 and 68% accuracy, luna (OpenAI) at $0.002 and 67% accuracy, terra (OpenAI) at $0.04 and 68% accuracy, and sol (OpenAI) at the top accuracy of 74% for $0.08. Single prompts (circles) and Anthropic models (opus 5, sonnet 5, haiku 4.5) sit below the frontier line, indicating higher cost for equivalent or lower accuracy.

Tokyo, the Paris of the east
water gushing vigorously up from the edges of a sidewalk drain tilelooking down a steep street soaked with rainwater rushing downhill. On the left, overgrown plants climb a fence blocking off an old hotel; in the distance a man, soaked, holds a useless umbrellastill from a video shot during the big storm in Chiba last week. looking from perhaps the third floor of an apartment building at a parking lot; 3 kei vans are almost entirely submerged in floodwater, their lights still on, glowing eerily in the green murky wetstill from a video shot during the big storm in Chiba last week. water (mercifully clear, maybe from a burst pipe) is cascading down stairs into what looks like a metro station entrance under a big 7-11 sign

lawyers in 2026 learning that words sent to a website are discoverable
Beyond this being a highly interesting case on its own merits, it shows that ChatGPT transcripts can be obtained by opposing lawyers in discovery or during depositions. Moye said
"every lawyer needs to make sure their own experts aren't generating work product in a way that's insincere, and then knowing you can subpoena the prompts [.] I've got lawyers all over the place saying, 1) 'Holy shit, man. How did you get the prompts?, and 2) 'How many cases do I have where this is happening to us?'"'
