As an expert on sexual violence, I have to add that these ethical violations are a nightmare for interviews on sensitive subjects. I would never recommend ANY survivor goes public with their story at an outlet that would do this to them.

Becalmed

Header: logisticians at work, by Ciaraíoch.

At the base of what had once been the Ekallatum Abominable Intelligence, but which now seemed like a miniature forest of many coloured flowers, languished a logistician. He sat cross legged, one hand resting placidly on his lap while another made a blasphemous circular sigil over his breast. His smile displayed such blissful serenity it filled the heart with joy just to see. Saklu Pactsman shuddered in disgust.

Carefully, Saklu raised his lasrifle to his shoulder and took aim. He loosed a single beam directly at the logistician's head. The superheated light flew straight and true - until, just before striking, the searing red beam miraculously transmuted into rose petals which fell gently around the logistician.

Then all nirvana broke loose."Contact!", came the cry over his vox, and the philia's internal vid-feed let Saklu watch as Naŋah-Dirig Pactsman was surrounded by logisticians chanting heretical screeds and banging tambourines. Naŋah-Dirig roared defiance and tried to draw his hand-axe; but he made the mistake of looking into the eyes of one of his assailants and suddenly a great calm came over him. Naŋah-Dirig muttered "Huh, maybe my father wasn't great, but at least he was trying his best - and in any case, I can't change the past" before joining the corrupted logisticians in their chanting.

Saklu's focus snapped back to his immediate surroundings as he realised that the logistician he'd tried to shoot was now approaching him. They were smiling and offering Saklu a flower while asking if he wanted to try some lentils. Saklu screamed in terror, dropping his lasrifle as he bolted for the door.Months later a research team led by Academician Lihzatu uncovered the roots of the tragedy. Logistician Ud-Gub of Ekallatum's Office had joined the RAT ("Rage and Terror") fight club, whose hobby, between rounds of punching each other in the face, was thinking about how to align A.I.s with the common bad. The RATs big idea was that if gave A.I. controlled access to the warp we might pair it up with a daemon that could metaphysically ensure compliance.

Unfortunately the RATs also used A.I. to find daemonic-monitors. They'd given the AI strict instructions to "stay on the eightfold path!", attempting to ensure it searched only Khorne's realm of the warp. They'd been satisfied when the AI returned from its warp-delve with an unfathomably ancient warp entity, "Mahāsiddha Nāgārjuna", which their own independent ritual scrying had confirmed was a "servant of the Victorious Conqueror". Within a week Ekallatum had fallen.

Despite Ekallatum's loss and against Lihzatu's explicit recommendation, Uruk's Office for Ceremonial Calculations ultimately decided to keep other abominable intelligences in use. They conceded there was a greater than 10% chance the devices *might* lead to galactic peace. But the anticipated rise in murders-per-moment if only they could perfect this technology still seemed worth it, and in any case it was rumoured the Hellasite Oligarchy was developing their own and it would hardly do to be second.

Girl's dress, 1750, Kunstmuseum den Haag I love this. Nearly 300 years old, and the green silk is as vibrant as ever. What a startlingly beautiful thing this must have been back then, and for quite a young (12-14) person too. #fashionsky #dresshistory #fashionhistory #historicalfashion
Museum photo of a rococo (maybe?) style girls dress, primarily in green silk. It has a close fitted bodice, with a very broad scoop neckline. Beneath this, covering the upper chest, is a white fichu. The sleeves are three quarter length, with lace trimming at the ends. The waist is tight and decorated with some 15 or so horizontal bands of fabric in various pastel colours.
There is a small peplum over the hips in the same green silk, and the skirt below this is full length, enlarged considerably at the hips with some underlying structure, and has deep pleats at the top, allowing it to hang very nicely.

I realize this is a longshot, but if anyone knows *anything* about this mysterious apparently engineering-college-related 1954 magazine with Walt Kelly's Pogo characters all over the cover plz respond (It is probably a talented college artist copy rather than actually Kelly but you never know)
Blown up photo of the cover of a March 1954 magazine "The Pointer"

The original photo was tiny, so there are many ben-day dots blurring the image, but it is clear that this was a magazine of some kind. Contextual clues suggest it is probably connected to a school of engineering somewhere. The Pogo characters are either by Kelly or are a pretty good pastiche by someone with copyist talent. We see Churchy La Femme doing something with the title, on a photo which is being leaned against by Porky Pine. A larger photo below shows Miss Mamselle Hepzibah, Howland Owl and a rabbit, along with the vulture whose name I can never remember, Beauregard Bugleboy in what looks like a band uniform, Albert Alligator, Pogo Possum, a couple of difficult to make out other characters, and at the bottom, the three bats, Bewitched, Bothered and Bemildred along with the date March '54. The photo is so blurry we only know it is '54 instead of '34 because Pogo.

Anyway, if anyone knows anything at all about this, please reply

However, widespread adoption didn't happen until after the Second World War, and they entered civilian life through the same channels as peacoats and field jackets. Since the US gov made these for soldiers, they had to figure out what to do with this surplus after the war.

During the 1898 Spanish-American War, US troops stationed in the Philippines wore sand-colored pants made from a heavy cotton twill woven in China. Since the Philippines had been under Spanish colonial rule at this time, the locals call these "pantalones chinos" (Chinese pants).
