What people fail to understand is also that Zionism was not just a plan/ideology for Jews in Palestine, it was also a vision for Jewish *diasporic* identity. Much of Zionist activity has always taken place outside Palestine/Israel and was about communal identity and politics. Hence the attachment.

AI is now the biggest investment in all of US history as a percentage of GDP. Datacenter construction is up, all other construction is down. "AI Is Squeezing Out the Rest of the Stock Market," reported WSJ 2 days ago. We basically bet the whole economy on the most optimistic visions panning out.

I’ve seen friends and even fellow professors saying “well, in her original statement” about the Cornell 7 case. But the truth is that Jane Doe called it rape, then Cornell “condensed” the report, and sent it to the district attorney. Why omit the part where she said she was raped while “condensing”?

Statement Written by Police in Cornell Assault Case Omitted Her Claim She Was Raped
Documents obtained by The New York Times show that the campus police at Cornell University sent a condensed statement to a prosecutor, who then declined to bring charges.

Colonial feminism is when you understand that a wife doing most of the caretaking labour while her husband sits around is unfair, but you don't see how Indigenous tribes doing most of the earth's stewardship work while the rest of us destroy and consume is the same problem at a massive scale

“AI will kill us all” is how the tech industry, especially rich people in it, avoid talking about real world problems—ones they’re causing, exacerbating, or neglecting—while still thinking themselves good. “I’m better than all that,” they say. “I got high with my friends and BSed about the future.”

worth pointing out to the climate people who dont follow German politics closely that BSW (Wagenknecht Alliance) has opened to talk to AfD re support in Saxony Anhalt, and that one of the three issues where agreement is very likely is energy/climate, where both the far left and far right converge.

"Amongst media-aware trans people someone who signed the Harper’s letter is shorthand for this person didn’t give a fuck. This is someone who didn’t care, as fascism rose, whether I lived or died." www.welcometohellworld.com/who-goes-tra...
For trans folks such as myself, the now-infamous Harper’s letter was an obvious anti-trans dogwhistle, and a harbinger of a broader media onslaught to come, signed by a who’s-who of intellectually unserious jerks, many of whom have made it their brand to bully trans people. As trans people (especially in media) we are perpetually aware of our more prominent antagonists.

One thing to keep in mind: Transphobia itself is a delusion. People who’ve fallen for this sort of hateful nonsense aren’t worthy of anyone’s respect, not as intellectuals at least.

On Bluesky, I use an account labeler that warns me when someone was a “Harper’s Signatory.” I admit it always makes me chuckle when I see it pop up.

Amongst media-aware trans people someone who signed the Harper’s letter is shorthand for this person didn’t give a fuck. This is someone who didn’t care, as fascism rose, whether I lived or died. Who maybe even joined in with the fascists in encouraging my demise. The flames were rising, threatening us, and they eagerly fanned them.

For a trans person such as myself, this assessment regarding who goes transphobe is mostly a matter of safety. Cis people who haven’t yet awoken to what era we are living through, right now, are dangerous — whether they’re merely clueless or actively malicious.
