my less controversial star wars take for may 4th: the lightsaber is easily the coolest fictional weapon ever created, a laser sword that you can make any sick-ass color you can think of
there are many awesome science fiction weapons out there but none of them hold a candle to lightsabers

everyone makes fun of it but the reason star wars is the ur-shitto franchise is that the universe is so big and cool and weird that it’s really fun to tell stories about random background characters
