OpenAI’s Dev Day 2026 was an unmitigated disaster. Now they’re trying to recover over the next 28 days. We’ll see. If it were up to me, I’d fire the cool, hip, highly educated people and hire more people who actually understand products and know how to ship them.

While social media makes it seem there is uniform disapproval of using AI to write, it’s quite different in the workplace. Depending on where you work, AI writing may be forbidden, required, or encouraged as long as it isn’t obvious AI slop. All my work documents are now AI assisted and it’s great

Absolutely this. I explain to folks all the time that my conversational Japanese is an epiphenomenon of my TECHNICAL Japanese which I learned as part of my Philosophy training. The greatest leap in my language skills came when I spent half a year in rural Japan barely speaking English.
