It costs the City of Ottawa $465/person each year to serve new low-density homes, over & above what it receives from property taxes/fees. On the other hand, high-density infill such as apartment buildings pays for itself plus an extra $606/person each year. Sprawl costs, infill saves. #UrbanTruth

There has been a lot written about third places and if their collapse has contributed to the current political environment we find ourself in (I believe it does) but not much on how those places were replaced with corp spaces who solely exist to sale products and not act as a community hub.

Folks have been telling me they’ve noticed I’ve gotten “a lot more political” on social media this year. Of course I have. The circumstances have gotten nightmarishly worse, and the consequences of inaction and staying silent infinitely more obvious. Everyone needs to get “a lot more political.”
