This is sarcasm. The Wellington together right wing group, embraced by the Labour Mayor, has ensured it'll cost more and take longer to probably eventually deliver something lesser than the original plans. If you're wondering yes, it's just like why Wellington's ferry port isn't getting upgraded.

Newtown pocket friends. My little cat - Waitī - has gone missing. She regularly goes on hikoi, but it's been over a week now. 😭 We think she hangs out around the hospital. If anyone works there and can post her on the bulletin board, it would be appreciated. We're worried about her.

This guy was on council for 30 years and Mayor for 3 while the infrastructure under our feet rotted away. He ran on no rates rises. In Wellington not having nice things. And now he’s moaning about everyone paying through the nose to fix the shit he ignored and actively worked against.

Ahhh that goes a long way to explaining why Julie Jacobson pieces are almost always from Diane Calvert’s viewpoint. Good to know Calvert actually helped a constituent
They have been reported to the council and to Wellington Water (now Tiaki Wai) repeatedly, by a number of people including me.
The latest was a small stream that ran through my property and into a neigh-bour's. I was told it was a private leak, that I was responsible and I should get a plumber in to sort it. Which I did.
Trouble is, it was nothing to do with me.
But it took me crying on the phone, roping in a city councillor and doing my own research to find that out, and to eventually find the source of the problem.

But how can this be? There’s a white man in charge now, you mean he hasn’t just magically fixed all the leaks????
Money down the drain
Not that long ago, when The Post was recording its "leak of the week", Wellington Water's then chief executive Tonia Haskell said the organisation aimed to renew 20km of pipes a year.
In the last six months just over 1.2 kilometres of new pipe (wastewater and drinking water) was laid across the metropolitan region. This included 100 metres for drinking water and about 1104 metres for wastewater. At that rate, it would be thousands of years to repair the network.
Across the same time frame Wellington
Water received just over 6000 reports of public leaks across the Wellington, Porirua, Lower and Upper Hutt metropolitan area, athough agency claims more than 1800 (around 30%) were duplicates, largely due t the same leak being reported multiple

This post from old mate Henry is the NZ mainstream media in a nutshell. They'll selectively show us the small gathering of cooker protesters, but not the absolutely massive line of people waiting to see Ardern. Those protesters represent a pathetically small and toxic minority of the population.

Digging deeper into the report it's clear that most of the support for the SH1 "improvements" is coming from people living in areas that won't be directly impacted. Central, southern and eastern Wellington residents don't want this shit imposed on our city.

It's ONE WEEK until the Wellington Pride Festival starts, so here is our plea to you today: www.wellingtonpridefestival.com/events
It’s one week to go h til the festival starts so here is our plea to you:

Book something for the festival. Today. Maybe more than one thing! Be kind to all the event producers and let them start the festival a little less stressed. Maybe you’re bad at remembering to do things, so this is your reminder to DO IT NOW. Waiting for your friend group to sort themselves out? Sort yourself out and they’ll follow! Finances tight? There’s lots of free events who’d like you to register in advance. Unsure about the weather? We all are. Waiting for a better offer? You won’t get one. Waiting for a sign? THIS IS IT!

So grab your tickets, register for that workshop, buy a ticket to the yourhball for the rainbow rangitahi in your life (or a supporters donation if not), enter your dog in Pooches in the Plaza, and then tell some more people to do the same. Thanks in advance!

Someone needs to explain to the Stuff editorial team that the word for non-productive members of society who rent out commercial buildings is “landlord”, and that “cycle lane” is what we call a lane for bicyclists and nothing to do with property speculation.

Almost every “beloved Wellington business closes” has been about landlords. Even the ones about businesses struggling because of fewer people working in Wellington have been because the landlord does not care and will not help.

A sales pitch rather than actual data? Under this government? Surely not!
Economist and urbanist Roland Sapsford, who campaigned against the inner city Wellington bypass when it was being planned, said the scant and unexplained figures NTA had released were "more sales pitch than economic analysis".
The time savings were based on adding all the projected time savings - seconds here and seconds there - together and this tended to inflate the overall number.
