Just speaking for film & TV there isn't really a job loss due to AI. It's been mostly due to successive punches of pandemic, streaming collapse, union strikes, studio consolidation and interest rates. This trend was in place way before Midjourney was pumping out pictures with 14 fingers.

Unlike the crescent moon and star flag that was changed for GameCube and such, this fix was implemented during the game’s initial cartridge printing iirc, so if you got a cart with the call to prayer, you got one of the earliest printings!

The real reason is more benign: OoT’s soundtrack, like many old video game OSTs, sampled heavily from public domain world music CDs, which often didn’t disclose their sources, so the Japanese devs had no idea the voices were tied to a religious practice. It was changed as soon as they realized.

I totally get it. But the Little Mermaid ain't a happy story! I hope we get more happy and overtly sexual yuri too, but one of the greatest burdens queer stories have to bear is the weight of too many expectations. Lara's was about abandoning love (for now) to accept her identity. Very trans coded!

But yeah, it’s for sure no Utena or Yurikuma, aka two of the best sapphic anime ever made. Ikuhara is a one of a kind wunderkind storyteller. He’s the only person in the world who can do exactly what he does. Sayonara Lara was its director’s first original anime, so it was great for a first start!

No shade on anyone who didn’t like the ending! It is a little sad! But it was a very natural conclusion from everything that had come before, and I thought the romantic feelings between the two girls were undeniable, in a subtle story for grown-ups kind of way. Maybe too subtle! That’s a fair point.

I liked the ending, but I think the ways in which it fell short are more a problem with the middle not being fleshed out enough. It’s more a story about queer self acceptance than queer falling in love. Anyone who was expecting them to make out and be happy at the end hasn’t seen much anime.
