I’m really looking forward to my next physical therapy session, which is on Wednesday. I exercised very minimally last time (my mobility is incredibly bad, and they were testing where I was at and what kind of help I needed), but even just that actually made me feel a bit better afterwards

They apparently have some sort of cool pants you can wear on their walking treadmills, which then get filled with (I think?) helium, which lets you walk a bit further with less weight on your leg joints. Definitely looking forward to that. I’ll try to take pics of the pants lol

Man, I can tell these are really gonna help me, because I wore them for a total of 7 minutes just to test them out and see if they fit, and even when I’ve gotten up to walk around without them since, my knees are still in the “correct”/non hyper extended position. Wild tbh

My knee braces arrived, and they fit!!!! I was expecting them to since I measured, but there was still that little worry at the back of my mind. Thankfully they do in fact fit. Man, it’s so weird to not have my knees bend backwards while standing, I feel like my centre of gravity has been moved LOL

An EDS symptom that not many talk about; It’s not uncommon to have a really high tolerance to substances, medications, and anaesthetics. It can actually be a real challenge to put an EDS haver under for surgery for this reason. I woke up way before planned during a (thankfully minor) surgery once

(I didn’t know I had EDS at the time! Otherwise you absolutely need to tell medical professionals that you do, especially if you need anaesthetic of any kind. Including just at the dentist, because you’ll likely need more than most people!)

I also have a really high tolerance to just regular medications. I’m taking the maximum recommended dose of Vyvanse, AND an afternoon dose of Dexedrine, because otherwise I am simply not adequately medicated

See the thing is, one subluxation isn’t too too painful on its own. It definitely hurts, but I’m also used to pain, so unless it’s a particularly bad one, it usually gets better fast after the joint pops back into place. It’s just that it happens at least twice a day, and that wears you out

That’s the thing you really gotta remember about EDS, among many others. It’s not just your joints doing fun party tricks, or just your skin being stretchy. It is unbelievably painful, and a strange way to exist.
