The only good thing about this game so far is that when I grumble about Jackson Merrill, it sounds like I'm talking about myself in the third person.

Rereading all of my favorite trivia about the 1978 cult classic film THE SWARM and its screenwriter, Mr. Sterling Silliphant (like sycophant, but sillier) rather than watching the Cubs so fantastically eat it on Peacock, in a game that was not deemed important enough to be on national television.

New sculpture in progress. Turtles have always had a special place in my heart. I’ve been wanting to make one for a while but it needed something special.
Unfired ceramic sculpture of a sea turtle next to a tree. The turtle has a tiny house on its back.Back view of the turtle. The house has tiny steps leading to its door. The tree has a tiny lantern hanging from a branch.

Fuck ChatGPT flyers. The future is broadsheets.
A crowded broadsheet with way too many fonts. It says:
Forget ChatGPT Flyers
Say it with
Broadsheets
Unlimited fonts
Stretch them
Or cram a really long sentence into one line for no good reason
No whitespace
Mix capital and lowercase
Pointing hands
(They're called manicules!)
Don't be left behind
Broadsheets are the future

I've given this a lot of thought. The broadcasters with the best suits on Marquee Sports Network are: 1. Dexter Fowler 2. Cliff Floyd (the purple!) 3. Cole Wright (stepping it uppp) 4. Elise Menaker (the opening day red!) 5. Lance Brozdowski (but points for always wearing his correct color season)

You can't, and shouldn't seek to, replace public schools or libraries with bookstores. You can't replace a public good with a private business, no matter how well-meaning or well-organized it may be.

I spent years tracking her purchases through the records she left in three archives. Finally, I found a missing notebook where she recorded exact prices and sellers for 513 objects — sometimes labeling the seller simply "chor." In Nepali, that’s “thief.”

My favorite doorknobs are the ones the New York City public schools installed at the turn of the 20th century. You can still occasionally find one on eBay!
A brass doorknob with the all-caps lettering "PUBLIC SCHOOL—CITY OF NEW YORK," surrounded by a swirling motif that looks rather like leaves.

This result is entirely thanks to Car Talk.
A result from the New York Times regional dialect quiz. It that says I call "a traffic situation in which several roads meet in a circle" a "rotary." The entire map is dark blue (meaning no one says rotary) except for Massachusetts and some of Maine, where the map is red and yellow, respectively.

GOP primary

Mike Minogue, a wealthy businessman, spent heavily in 2024 to help Trump get elected. Now he wants to bring his MAGA politics to one of the nation’s bluest states, a tough sell against incumbent Democrat Maura Healey.

Minogue romped at the GOP convention in May but he still faces Brian Shortsleeve, a man who emerged from the more moderate wing of the Republican Party but is now running a hard-line campaign that includes ending state protections for immigrants.

Dear Imagination Library Graduate,
My, how time flies. It seems it was only yesterday when your family and friends read you your first story. You were just a baby. Now you're five years old and about to go to school. How exciting!
This may be your last book from my Imagination Library but you have to promise me you will keep on reading. If you go to your local public library you will find a great number of books just for kids your age. Every book is a treasure and every time you open one up you will meet new friends and take wonderful journeys to magical places.
I hope you have a great time in school. I bet your school will even have a library where you can check out books. You and all of your friends are very special. There is no limit to what you can do or how far you can go.
Just remember the lessons my family taught me - dream big dreams; learn everything you can learn; and care for all those who care for you. You do all of these things and you can be anyone you want to be.
You are terrific, and remember...
I Will Always Love You,
Dolly
