Also, the four categories of bicycle policy: 1. Bikes are obstacles (outright bans) 2. Bikes are toys (OK, your kids can ride around their subdivision) 3. Bikes are exercise (paths in parks that you drive to) 4. Bikes are transportation (you can mostly get from A to B without risking death)

CALL TO ACTION: Tameside Council has announced a new consultation for improvements to the A560 that include wider footpaths, resurfaced roads and footpaths, improved pedestrian crossings, safer junctions, better bus stops, and new separated cycle lanes.

Here's the situation. You're in a rush to catch a train at Oxford Road. You're already late and only have a minute or so to lock up. You push the bike into the stand and the lock fails - you can't seem to get the front lock into place. You miss the train. Seems familiar?

I was really pleased on cycling a route I've not taken in a couple of years to see that Stockport and Manchester Councils have removed all the restrictive gates and A-frames. Well done! Mersey Valley entrances today & 2025/2020
