Great horror takes the mundane and contorts it into something terrifying, but I think Townfall might even take that a step further by using the trappings of survival horror to contextualise the real, intensely upsetting source material: some people have to grow up in Fife

Oh, and the weapon degradation thing - which drives me mad, usually - was note perfect. Really gave me pause when it came to attacking something, but, unlike f, I was never without a weapon for long. Perfectly tuned, I'd say.

(Saying that, I spent a lot of time exploring because there's SO much to see, and was scared shitless for good portions of the game, which slowed me down to a fucking crawl).

I think it's a little long – I think that about a lot of horror games, tho – and some of the stealth sequences are a complete ballache, but I never, not for a moment, stopped waiting to know every detail of what the fuck had happened. Gripped me from beginning to end. If scoring it, i'd give 9/10.

So! I don't have a review of Silent Hill: Townfall, but I have finished it! Even if it doesn't take place IN Silent Hill proper, it's probably my favourite Silent Hill game, second only to SH2/SH2R. It does everything right. Frightened the shit out of me, made me cry, kept me absolutely hooked.

My husband’s g-g-g grandfather, coxswain of the Mumbles lifeboat, lost two of his own sons and most of his crew when he went out in 1883, but saved c.130 people during his time with the RNLI. These are the bravest, kindest, most selfless people on the planet. Am fuckin OUTRAGED by this.

What on earth is happening?

This had become the new normal. RNLI crew members had been forced to take their permits off their cars after their tyres have been repeatedly slashed. Most of them have been pilloried at the school gates or turned away from local pubs. One man who worked in search and rescue had been beaten unconscious and hospitalised, recognised for TV interviews he had done.
