Hey all, it's a bad time to go without healthcare needs! Today is the 1st Disposition Hearing for the hypnotist on 20 felony sexual assaults + the new felony SA charge (not sure if they will arraign on that today). I also need to file an amended report for my case w/new evidence. Might erase SOL!

In a very similar situation. It’s very scary. Shows how fragile our support networks are at the best of times and how for many they are non-existent. I wish it were different. 🫂💙

It absolutely makes no sense! I’ve had many MRIs and never been examined for piercings. It feels like just a way to try to make this harder for you in hopes you’ll do things their way. And their way is ableist and refuses to acknowledge that airborne diseases exist. I’m so sorry!! 😡

I could really use help with groceries, legal / court fees, and cat stuff, too. Also my hearing aids are beyond repair now. They were old. I got them with a grant from the Rauschenberg Foundation and cannot afford new ones. Scared about that for court. $4500 specialty aid (NO I cannot use Air Pods).

With the increase in food and medication recalls, it’s easy to feel a loss of control. One small thing you can do to make a huge difference is to wear a mask. It keeps you & your community safe. It shows solidarity with disabled people. It’s a form of resistance. It’s community care.

I wrote this article nearly two years ago but it’s just as relevant today. I wish every healthcare worker would read it and realize patients deserve protection. They deserve to be safe in the place they go to get care. They deserve masks in healthcare:
disabledginger.com
A Plea to Maskless Healthcare Workers from Vulnerable Patients
If you see a mask - wear a mask. Better yet - wear a mask all the time and show us you understand that we're still IN a pandemic. We are depending on you to keep us safe - please don't betray that.

This one is hard. There are so many options when you’re not chronically ill. But illness can interfere with coping. I can’t walk it out, talk it out, or even cry it out without making my health worse! I don’t have answers but send this in solidarity & in hope that others have ideas. 💙

Another batch are now available as downloads as well as physical cards - these 4 are some of my favorites from today. I use the fidget card and the sensory sensitivity card myself, and the grounding technique and eating challenges cards I loved creating. www.stickmancommunications.co.uk/downloadzone
Smiling white woman with blue glasses and hair tied back. Holding up 2 cards in each hand They aren't fully readable as they are pretty small on the photo, but: 1 has a blue border and says about finding eating challenging, 2 has a rainbow border and describes the 54321 grounding technique, 3 is about needing to fidget, and 4 is about sensations that most people fine okay can be extremely painful, exhausting or overwhelming for me.

The same fear has kept me from buying one for so long. A family member got a new mattress and I reacted to it for a year (I never went in their room and they kept the door shut). I know I need to take the leap, but just, can’t. 😔

I miss them sooo much. Have had issues with every Vitacost order and iHerb order since the merge. Missing items, expired items. It’s hard to get resolution. I got an email at one point saying I’d get a refund, but a month later, nothing. So I have to attempt to contact them again. Grrrr!

Please don’t offer disabled people “thoughts and prayers”. Don’t offer empty platitudes and inspirational memes. Offer real, tangible help… and then follow through. We lack support for the most basic activities of daily living. That’s where we need help.

It’s not your fault you’re disabled. It’s not your fault you’re chronically ill. It’s not your fault you’re living in poverty, lacking health insurance, homeless or unemployed. The billionaire class wants us to believe these are moral failings so they don’t have to help people. We should help.

When I could hide my disabilities, people accepted me. When I couldn’t hide them, they tolerated me. When I became vocal & demanded ableism be addressed, they abandoned me. This is why we need a Disability Pride month. This is why we need advocates. We shouldn’t have to hide.
