Everyone's said all there is to say about Schmitt's hilarious "Hawks" boner. But the part that I keep coming back to is that Schmitt apparently thought proving Smith was in Atlanta would somehow prove some cross-prosecutorial conspiracy. Then he didn't bother to confirm if Smith ever was in Atlanta.

Not to be a party pooper but a Democratic Congress is absolutely not going to lower costs; it just won't be in their power no matter how much they'd like to. Hard to tell what the political consequences of being unable to follow through on their central campaign promise will be.

Trump says he's also looking at banning the Washington Post, calling it a "crummy paper" and "disgusting." Anyway, good job, Jeff Bezos! It obviously was worth losing all those scubsribers and turning your opinion section into MAGA-lite, only for the president to continue to call you "fake news."

It’s very simple and it’s been said over and over but I guess it needs saying continuously: if you deem one group too small to have equal rights you are enabling fascism, not fighting it. The people saying Dems are GREAT on trans rights are not paying attention and/or saying stuff like this.

The Democrats defend the Kennedy Center but not trans people.

maybe because defending everything about a super small minority of the population is not worth losing to fascists

This is where we are: a tech billionaire who, as an undergrad writing in the Stanford Review, "blasted a student movement to raise custodians' pay, warning it 'destroys incentive for them to improve themselves,'" is now a chief architect of a homelessness policy built around punishment and coercion.

Between 2016 and today, the US has spent almost $9 trillion on defense. It then ran dangerously low in many advanced munitions fighting a country with no air force and navy--after about two months of combat operations. This is an extraordinary scandal.

Is this just business as usual in politics? No. Approval rates of federal disaster aid requests were about the same regardless of the state and did not vary much with the party of the President. This graph powerfully conveys the scale of the partisan discrimination now.

There are only three possible futures: a) everyone in the Trump admin goes to jail, rule of law partially restored; b) Dems retaliate in full, and maybe that's a deterrent; c) neither (a) nor (b), so lawless authoritarianism wins again, and when Republicans regain power they ramp it up even more.

More Americans have been killed in the Iran war Trump started than in the Afghan withdrawal Biden was handed and completed. The implications for America’s geopolitical situation is much worse with attacking Iran than leaving Afghanistan. But going by tone of coverage, one would think the opposite.
