People are so broken they are now outsourcing fun to AI.
Just saw someone say their AI runs their fantasy football team and I can’t stop laughing. Like, I’m sure everyone’s doing it or something but it’s very funny to me that pretending to be a team manager was so hard that you needed to pretend to pretend to be a team manager

You read this and it sounds perfectly reasonable, right? Nobody should be saying people should be sent to camps! How horrible! Aaron doesn't mention that the REASON people are using "camps" rhetoric is because he very recently said that it was fine to use this language about and to trans people.

Reminder for October: Fulden Ibrahimhakkioglu and I are co-editing a special issue of Feminist Philosophy Quarterly on Feminist Accountability and Transformative Justice! Essays of up to 9k words due Jan. 4 2027 for peer review. Details here: philevents.org/event/show/1...
Details

We are irrevocably implicated in the systems of oppression we seek to dismantle, and the effects of those systems live with us and within us. Accountability—understood as taking responsibility for our contributions to and complicity in systemic harms—offers a framework for practicing feminist solidarity, building community, and supporting both individual and collective healing. This special issue explores feminist accountability as a practice that moves beyond punishment and retribution toward transformative justice as an ethical and political project. We are especially interested in work that engages the tensions, limits, and possibilities of accountability: not only as an ethical ideal, but as a lived, contested, and situated practice across interpersonal, institutional, and structural contexts. We invite submissions that examine how accountability is practiced today and how it intersects with broader frameworks of transformative justice. What does it mean to take responsibility for harm within feminist communities? How might accountability reshape our understandings of power, complicity, and solidarity? What challenges arise when transformative justice frameworks—often developed in grassroots and activist contexts—are brought into academic spaces? In keeping with Feminist Philosophy Quarterly’s commitment to inclusive, intersectional, and community-engaged feminist philosophy, we especially encourage submissions that engage and build upon the work of scholars from historically marginalized communities and those most affected by the forms of harm under discussion. Submissions may address, but are not limited to:-Feminist accountability as a practice: its limits, tensions, and conditions of possibility
-Accountability beyond carceral logics: abolitionist and transformative approaches to harm
-Transformative justice as ethical and political praxis
-Responsibility, complicity, and refusal in conditions of structural injustice
-Practices of repair, restitution, and non-reconciliation
-Community-based responses to harm: care, conflict, and collective healing
-Navigating accountability in a context of backlash and reaction
-The misuse of accountability practices and procedures
-Accountability within feminist movements: power, exclusion, and internal critique
-Pedagogies of accountability: teaching, learning, and institutional responsibility
-The politics of “calling in,” “calling out,” and other modes of response
-Citation as accountability: feminist lineage-building and epistemic responsibility
-Coalition-building and solidarity across asymmetries of power
-Mutual aid, abolition feminism, disability justice, and transformative justice
-Intersections of restorative and transformative justice frameworks
-Feminist responses to interpersonal, gendered, and sexual violence
-Feminist responses to state violence, war, and genocide
-The ethics and politics of care within transformative justice practices

Submission Details:

Excellent to see this case made in another outlet policymakers and campaigners read. I’d add that I think a lot of the NYT’s influence among Dems comes from donors, not necessarily rank and file supporters.

...anyway, happy #BiWeek/#BiVisibilityDay! that's it for the extremely bisexual #99Erics excerpts, but you can find links to buy the book (or download the first 5 chapters for FREE!) at juliaserano.com/99erics.html. & here's the Kirkus Review (where it was named one of the Best Indie Books of 2021):
screenshot from the linked-to 99 Erics book review that reads in part:
Serano satirically tackles gender norms, linguistics, hipsters, and more as her fictional character writes a book about dating 99 different people—all named Eric.
Kat Cataclysm is an absurdist short story writer and self-identified “weirdo”—an out bisexual, nonmonogamous “ethical slut” with an interest in baseball, linguistics, and delicious India pale ales. She’s also fictional, a not quite nom de guerre (but still a warrior!) of author Serano, and has a long-held desire to be a novelist despite her self-confessed title of “queen of conflict avoidance,” an unfortunate trait when most novels thrive on conflict. So instead, she commits to a “faux novel” about her “her supposed experiences dating 99 different people named Eric” as she seeks to subvert other conventions of fiction as well, vowing to never overcome adversity or grow as a person along the way. Kat uses these Erics as opportunities to draw out poignant points about gentrification, internalized homophobia, bisexual stereotypes, and the disposability of the gig economy while also obsessing over penis-chewing banana slugs or deal- ing with the fallout of an internet listicle on the common cold she authored literally going viral. When she sics a roomful of zombified children on a tiresome screenwriter, it’s clear she’s aware of her role as omniscient narrator. Serano has written about gender identity and feminism in her nonfiction books Whipping Girl (2007) and Excluded (2013); she explores many of the same ideas in her debut work of fiction. The writing is conversational in style, and though Kat claims to be uninterested in banal descriptions, the scene-setting in various California locales works well. Kat recalls the Manic Pixie Dream Girls so often used in male-oriented stories, but she’s decidedly more warts and all in her presentation, almost too quirky to function, ...screenshot from the linked-to book review that reads:
...and enthusiastic about her role as ruler of all the Erics. The result is a lovable composite of Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead (1966) and a less murder-y version of Marvel’s Deadpool, using absurdism and humor to break down the fourth wall and the very idea of “normal,” with all its silly little boxes and prejudices. If that makes the book sound serious, it isn’t—and that might be the most effective way it makes its readers think about identity.
Knocks down literary conventions, sexual stereotypes, the fourth wall, and more in enthusiastic defense of the weird.

TRANSCRIPT
Panel 1:
A woman and a man sit on a low stone wall in a park. The woman is upset; the man listens.

WOMAN: And now the Democrat in the race is backing some anti-trans laws! I’m not sure I can vote for that.

MAN (thinking): Uh-oh. Democrats need every vote. How can I convince her to vote for the Democrat anyway?

Panel 2:
The woman and man walk through the park, the woman ahead of him.

WOMAN: Of course, the Republican is even worse. But if Democrats turn against trans people… I’m so frightened.

MAN (thinking): I’ve got to be empathetic and persuasive.

Panel 3:
Close-up of the man, looking thoughtful with his hand on his chin.

WOMAN (off-panel): Look at what happened to the UK — they’ve now got two anti-trans parties. If we let that happen here, trans rights are dead.

MAN (thinking): Okay, I think I know how to reassure her and get her vote.

Panel 4:
The man is suddenly furious, leaning toward the startled woman and pointing at her.

MAN: You’re a Trump supporting moron and you deserve to die!

CHICKEN FAT WATCH
PANEL 1:
A good dog with a halo peers out a window. A hand sticks out of a hole in a tree holding a sign that says SEND CANDY.

PANEL 2:
Groucho peeks from behind some bushes. A poster nailed to a tree reads "Background gag to come and it'll be so funny!" A bad rabbit (we know it's bad because it's smoking) sits beside a bad worm (also smoking). A bottle lying in the grass is labeled "BARRY BEER" and has a disturbed-looking drawing of Barry. A mouse holds a knife to a cat; the cat raises its front paws in surrender.

PANEL 4:
A giant mouse (?) in a shirt and tie sits on the wall reading a newspaper, called "Daily Blah Blah," whose headline says "Literate Rodent Escapes Lab."
