It really doesn't make sense to attribute those job losses to AI-the-technology, because if that were the case we'd be observing AI outputs displacing conventional entertainment products, and they're clearly not. Rather, the impact of AI is that AI-the-business is crowding out other investment.

If you were into TTRPGs in the late 90s and early 2000s, you might remember a website I ran called the Gaming Outpost. It was, for a time, the biggest TTRPG site out there, was the birthplace of indie RPGs, and the early home of several now prominent designers. It went offline 20 years ago.

♥️🔥♥️🔥♥️🔥♥️🔥♥️🔥♥️🔥♥️ ITS HERE!!!!! This book is about how game design on a whole, counterintuitively, became less imaginative because of Dungeons & Dragons. We often talk about Dungeons & Dragons as the ultimate fantasy. A pure domain of imagination where absolutely anything is possible.

Did you know Traveller's Marc W. Miller and others designed ~4 or more educational roleplaying games ca. 1972-1974--before D&D? Here's a 🧵 with a few thoughts about this ...
Screenshot of Marc W. Miller (1979), "My Life in Role Playing," from _Different Worlds_ #1: "Strange is the word to describe my life in role-playing; in fact, looking back I find that I was in the field before I knew about it, and for longer that it seems possible. It all started back in 1968, in a political science class at the University of Illinois. My introduction to role-playing took the form of a hypothetical political nominating convention, with the students taking the roles of candidates and political aides. (I came within a hair's breadth of getting a Barry Goldwater type conservative nominated as democratic presidential candidate.) When I came back to school in 1972, I immediately became involved in boardgames, and simultaneously signed on as a designer (soon head designer) at _SIMRAD_, located at Illinois State University. _SIMRAD_ was an innovative education project, envisioned as a simulation souce for instructors; they issued specifications for simulations, we designed them, and then administered them in the classroom (thus, SIMulation, Research, Administration, and Design). In the course of 18 months with _SIMRAD_, I (actually we, much of the workshop staff worked at various levels in _SIMRAD_) put together about 8 games, of which more than half were educational role-playing games. In general, such games simulate presidential nominating conventions, or elections, or passing a bill in congress; anything political, and relatively simple. _SIMRAD_ folded in 1973, and the staff formed the core of Game Designers' Workshop--we immediately set about producing historical boardgames, such as _Drang Nach Osten!_, _Unentschieden_, _Chaco_, _Triplanetary_ and _Eagles_. Board games were to be our mainstay for several years to come."

Hasbro have apparently hired a notorious union-busting firm in response to the Magic the Gathering Arena teams attempt at unionisation - Reddit mods have deleted the post If you haven't please sign the unions petition actionnetwork.org/forms/uwotcl...
A Reddit Post

Hasbro just hired a notorious union-busting firm
News
I've been tracking the NLRB filing for the new Arena Union (UWOTC-CWA) since they announced on Monday. The devs gave Hasbro until this Friday (International workers day) to voluntarily recognize them.
In response, Hasbro hired a well known union busting firm Fisher Phillips, to oversee this debacle.
WoTC also responded to the news with this statement which is riddled with anti union wording (in my opinion) such as the "we are a family" vibe and also "direct relationship with our employees"
Hopefully, Hasbro/WoTC is just using this firm as a "how to not screw everything up" instead of actually attempting to fight the imminent union.
Anyways, please support your devs in their efforts to unionize.

Evil fucked up horse #LancerTokens
The size 1 HORUS PEGASUS Frame from the LANCER TTRPG.

The mech is a humanoid-like mech that moves in a strange crawl and whose head is elongated like a horses head.

The mech is crouched on the floor in a crawling position. One of the arms is behind it and one is in front of it. It has humanoid hands at the end of its 4 limbs but uses them like digitigrade animals do, on its digits.

It has an exposed reddish spine and a hull that resembles skin or muscle cracking open to reveal the bones.

On it's back it has a large metallic disc with metallic "arms! holding round pieces of it shull with lights inside them. in the middle of these rounded pieces held by the arms is a pure black hole with other pieces of metal and dust floating around it.

The mech is beige with reddish tones and some unsaturated brownish colours for the "cloth" part of it sbody.

It has various spikes along it's back, hull and limbs, and a small gun coming out of its right shoulder (our left)

The eye trail is a purplish colour, similar to the outline of the black hole.

Amazon is adding a fuel surcharge to their fulfillment/shipping fees for third party sellers, suggesting they don't think the rise in fuel costs is a temporary blip and they need to establish a means of passing the cost along before annual rate changes.
Starting April 17, 2026, a 3.5% fuel and logistics-related surcharge will be applied to fulfillment fees across Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) in the US and Canada as well as to Remote Fulfillment with FBA from the US into Canada, Mexico, and Brazil. Starting May 2, 2026, this surcharge will take effect for Buy with Prime in the US and Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF) in the US and Canada. Due to the work we have already done together to lower costs, this surcharge is meaningfully lower than other major carriers.
