I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.

There will be post-mortems after the elections about Dem performance. All of those discussions should include two structural factors: *Gerrymandering designed to make elections less representative *Massive spending by the wealthy, including unprecedented spending by the richest man in the world

If Dems "underperform" bc of gerrymandering & the Senate map or "overperform" bc of the backlash to authoritarianism, the media will do what it always does: write about how Dems' candidates & messaging were the reason, not about the structural stuff. We know this bc it happened in 2024 & always does

The campaign of educational censorship sweeping Texas and other GOP-governed states in the name of “free speech” and “diversity of viewpoint” in many ways exceeds the worst of the McCarthy Era (gift link obvs) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1...
You have to go back to the loyalty oath cases of the Cold War period to see relatively analogous situations where the government was trying to silence academics with viewpoints that they didn’t like,” Emerson Sykes, an attorney with the ACLU, told me. “But even in those cases, we did not see the sort of brazen attempt to ban particular ideas or ideologies and scrub them from the public record or from public education.”

There is absolutely no viable path forward for this country that doesn’t hinge on extreme accountability for everyone involved in this administration. They’re going to whine about politicization and credulous media types will echo them, but the thing is, they’ve committed tons of obvious crimes!

If you are shocked this am that Trump’s government executed a search warrant against a Democratic Member of Congress and ignored a judge’s order then you haven’t been paying attention. Stop saying this isn’t how it works in the US. It is exactly how it works under Trump.

Then ignoring them and letting them rebuild in rural areas and retain their “everyone but white men of our “religion” (the confederacy) should be eradicated and/or enslaved” religion. It wasn’t an “over there” problem like another country to be ignored, it was a growing menace from our past.

I do not think an exec branch led by a man who thinks he is entitled to treat federal agents as an arm of his firm, refers to Somali Americans as “garbage” and has said racist things specifically about Omar is capable of neutrally applying the law to her, to put it mildly apnews.com/article/ilha...

We’re living through a campaign of discrimination comparable to many historical abuses. It’s shocking to me how many people are capable of identifying state-sanctioned bigotry when they encounter it in a history book, but cannot recognize it at all when they encounter it in a newspaper.

Also it’s time for the news to stop treating this administration’s racist war against Somalis as “Trump being Trump.” They targeted Minneapolis because they hate an ethnic group here, and now they’re targeting the most prominent political figure in that group with thinly rationalized state violence.

It’s also a proud return to a pre-science mindset, we already know that Trump can’t be bothered to learn the data that shows none of this deters crime. So they throw data out so that everyone has to worship white ”christian” male religion of “we get to kill anyone we want and enslave anyone we want”

My experience w/ MAGAs it’s because they truly only see the world through a dominance lens. Pandering to their whining is letting them dominate you. Entertaining their endless bad faith “debate” demands or “concerns” is letting them make you dance to their tune. Refusing to play their game is power.

This all should be tied back to all those layoffs they did. Seems like they needed more employees to make sure their software wasn’t ingesting viruses or otherwise behaving as one itself. Literally this was preventable, and the tech didn’t need to be released with these kinds of vulnerabilities

The takeaway from Bo French suggesting Asian students are “foreigners” and the tepid GOP response is that the Trump-era Republican Party is increasingly explicit about its belief that the only good immigrants, and the only real Americans, are white. (Gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1...
The Afrikaner policy is illuminating, because it proves the catch-22 facing nonwhite immigrants: If you are poor, you are a moocher, and if you are gainfully employed, you are taking a job from a hardworking American. The only way to be a good immigrant is to be white and Christian.

Bo French, who is running for a seat on the Texas Railroad Commission, has taken this idea a step further, suggesting that the only way to be an American is to be white and Christian.

If the media had been pushing them to define in numbers or full sentences what any of their words meant it might have been revealed before Vance. But everyone just assumed we all had the same definitions for words like “illegal“ or “freedom” or “socialism” and we straight don’t. (ex-rural here)

It’s that, but it’s also him revealing a secret of the right and that’s they redefined words *long* ago so that the faithful hear the right message and everyone else is fooled. Like “open border” has always meant “one that lets even one brown or black person through” and “illegal” was the same.

It’s doubly sickening that they are doing it in the name of Jesus and Christianity, with the people like Hegseth thinking he’s literally fighting the crusades with Jesus and the rapture waiting for him, and people like Vance trying to revive the version of Catholicism that led to the inquisition.
