The reduced risk of heart disease seen in overweight or obese people taking the weight loss drug semaglutide may not be due to a drop in weight alone, a study led by Prof Helen Colhoun shows. This suggests the drug may also be working to reduce heart disease in some other way. 👉 edin.ac/4dXqCNR

Why do rare disease cases remain unsolved after WGS? In 24 SGP families, ONT long-read + phenotype-led SV analysis found 3 diagnoses. All 3 SVs were also recoverable from Illumina data. The bottleneck isn’t sequencing alone—it’s interpretation. www.nature.com/articles/s41...
