How long does a barista work to afford a small cappucino in their own café? Another #TidyTuesday from a few weeks back (week 36) with a detailed walkthrough. Playing with sine and cosine, long time no see, yay! Code: gnoblet.codeberg.page/TidyTuesday/... #ggplot2 #rstats #dataviz
A crema-coloured spiral chart. Each coloured bean is a country, placed at the minutes a barista works to afford a small cappuccino: Australia at 10 minutes near the top of the outer rim, most of Europe and North America within the first half hour, and Pakistan at 4 hours 37 minutes near the centre. Bean colour shows region and bean size the number of cafés surveyed.

DoorDash spent $1.4M trying to stop Zohran Mamdani from becoming mayor. This week's historic $131.5M enforcement action against DoorDash for underpaying NYC delivery workers shows why. Yet another reminder that the only thing that can beat organized money is organized people.

In the first panel we see Sarah, the protagonist, next to a stick figure labeled “AI”. The stick figure says, “my outputs look just like yours now.”
The second panel zooms in on Sarah’s face. Above her we see text reading “I think”.
The third panel zooms in closer on Sarah’s face. Text above her reads “you missed”.
The fourth panel shows Sarah drawing happily in a sunlit room. The text above her reads “the point”.

What on earth is happening?
This had become the new normal. RNLI crew members had been forced to take their permits off their cars after their tyres have been repeatedly slashed. Most of them have been pilloried at the school gates or turned away from local pubs. One man who worked in search and rescue had been beaten unconscious and hospitalised, recognised for TV interviews he had done.
