Over the weekend, the Bradford campaign challenged the media to do this "scavenger hunt" to uncover supposed places where Olivia Chow frittered away the provincial New Deal money. Challenge accepted. From my newsletter this week, here’s what I found.
An infographic for a City Hall scavenger hunt titled 'Where did the Money Go?' showing eight locations throughout Toronto where city budget expenditures are hidden, with clues and dollar amounts for each stop, ending at the Mayor's Office, and promoting Brad Bradford's mayoral campaign.

Why does higher supply reduce prices? There is 1 house for sale and 4 buyers with maximum bids: A: $600k, B: $500k, C: $400k, D: $300k The market price is the highest losing bid, since this means the winner can outbid the losers. 1/

No, I don’t expect that Canada will join the EU, but the more we can standardize and cooperate, the better. Fully ratify CETA, help Ukraine, university exchanges, accept Euro standard cars and elevators, maybe more labour mobility, reduce our reliance on American tech, etc.

@alexbozikovic.bsky.social has written what is now my favourite succinct analysis of why Alto is such a vital national project.
The value of cities is not merely that they concentrate people and transactions. It is that they create a shared
world: places where strangers encounter one another, where ideas circulate, and where commerce emerges from proximity and
exchange. Even now, the economic power of cities is inseparable from their social and cultural life. Yet this is poorly understood by many
governments. Alto promises to remedy that, while
protecting Canada against a future in which high oil
prices and climate politics make roads and airports much less accessible. If done right - with well-located downtown terminal stations
- Alto would remake the cultural and economic
geography of Canada.

Before Doucet, baseball terminology in Quebec was a lot of franglais - "le shortstop a struck out sur un curveball" etc. - but that didn't fly with Quebec broadcasting laws, so he basically had to invent a French word to use for every bit of the baseball lexicon. Here are some of them:
Some French baseball terms coined by the late Jacques Doucet

amorti (deadened) - to bunt
balle fronde (slingshot ball) - splitter
balle papillon (butterfly ball) - knuckleball
chandelle (candle) - pop fly
souricière (mousetrap) - rundown
sabotage - blown save
