well not only did I send an incorrect invoice then a follow-up saying a correct one would follow, I also sent both to the wrong client (who has the same first name) so one client has no idea I'm a moron, the other is only now fully appreciating the vast depths of my stupidity.

On National Poetry Day, here’s a short poem about the power of poetry to change the world.
The Power of Poetry

with things falling apart
and anarchy let loose,

it was only poetry, he found,
which had any use,

so he reached for his copy
of The Complete Works of Yeats

and bludgeoned the President
of the United States

44,000 people told the NHS to stop processing their records, under article 21 of the UK GDPR. Not a petition: it reverses the burden of proof, and NHS England must answer each one. www.yeandel.co.uk/22-q3-2026-update… #TechSovereignty

44,000 People Have Told the NHS to Stop Processing Their Records. The Law Says Someone Now Has to Answer Each One.
A campaign has put more than 44,000 formal objections to the Palantir-built NHS data platform on the record, using article 21 of the UK GDPR. That provision does not ask for a consultation response. It reverses the burden of proof and makes NHS England argue, case by case, why it should be allowed t

This is quite cool. My university is the first organisation in the world to force Microsoft to allow us to turn off copilot summaries in Word 365, after a backlash against it from staff (including, very vocally, me). That cannot have been easy for our heroic IT people so hats very much off to them!

Breath & Bone is another of @kvjohansen.bsky.social 's elegant, complicated fantasies featuring characters living with the consequences of their own actions. (Link to us but available at all the usual suspects.) www.candlemarkandgleam.com/shop/breath-...
Book cover: in a blue-toned forest, a dark-haired woman is just drawing a sword while at her side a shorter woman carrying a harp looks intently out of the image. Breath and Bone, K.V. Johansen. A long-retired swordswoman, savior of godlings and killer of emperors, takes to the road again with her shapeshifting companion and the ghost of her brother. A desperate girl needs their help to rescue her own lost brother — and the witch who holds him in thrall is their old enemy. “A wonderful tale of rescue and redemption.” — Tom Lloyd. “This fairytale-like stry has both teeth and heart.” — KD Edwards

“It’s not ALL men.” None of the 50+ men the Cornell rapists invited to come join them in raping a woman they’d drugged went to the authorities or tried to stop it. Not all men would rape an unconscious woman, but where are the men who’d try to stop it, or EVEN FUCKING OBJECT?

"Should reading be encouraged as part of a healthy lifestyle choice, much like exercising or eating well? Or as a hobby, an activity done for pleasure?" Why does everything demand a binary response? Surely the answer's "both" as you show people the existing evidence for them.

So the BBC say my area had an average summer temp 4.2 degrees above normal, with 38 days in heatwave. And the rainfall chart this year has either double expected rain for some months, half or none for others. Very much like you'd expect from more extreme weather patterns caused by climate change.

The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.
