Before people learned music with 'do re mi', the sequence once began with 'ut' as the lowest note. The absolute lowest note recognised in medieval music was 'Γ ut', with the Greek letter gamma, and 'Γ ut' came to refer to the full range of possible notes. This is behind the phrase 'run the gamut'.

Her dress was of turquoise-colored silk, bright and soft as the evening sky. It belled out full from her hips, and all the skirt was embroidered with thin silver threads and seed pearls and tiny crumbs of crystal, so that it glittered softly, like rain in April.

Llangaffo Church is 19th c. built on an earlier church site. The church was locked which prevented viewing of some 9th-11th century memorial stones inside. Outside you can still see some medieval cross slabs lined up and the base of a cross shaft. The original church door is now the churchyard entry

I passed this 1930’s church on Bull Bay Road in Amlwch a few times and just had to take a look. This is the Catholic Church of Our Lady Star of the Sea & St Winefride. It was designed by an Italian architect to look like the upturned hull of a boat reflecting Amlwch’s maritime history.

Finally gentle rain and mist on the hills again. Low tide at the iron bridge with a couple of geese and loads of squawking herring gulls.
Photo of a thin channel of water making its way through the silty river bed at low tide. A couple of geese swim in the distance, and further away forested slopes give way to misty mountains below thick grey cloud. Some #SolarEclipse 2026 photos of the sun setting over Cardigan Bay #Wales. This morning’s apocalyptic wildfire smoke has abated.
Photo of the sun in the process of being eclipsed whilst starting to set over the sea. A startled sheep stares at the camera from its tree-fringed field. Low exposure photo of the setting sun, partially eclipsed by the moon, with the sun’s glitterpath over the sea and silhouettes of leafy trees in the foreground.Photo of pinhole camera effect on the wall of next door’s house, capturing the eclipsed sun through gaps in the leaves of a nearby tree. So pretty because they rustled in the faint breeze. Another low exposure photo of the eclipsed sun setting, with glitterpath, over the sea.
