I expect that a lot of folks were introduced to them via FLCL as I was. It was a joy to dig into their catalog outside the soundtrack and find that hey, this is a good band! It doesn't hurt that their music was perfectly chosen for the series.

I've been on a The Pillows kick for the past couple days. A lot of their early stuff holds up very well musically, but I can't really say about the lyrics because my Japanese is almost nonexistent these days. Still, one of the best guitar rock bands I've ever heard.

TODAY'S COMIC: Crabby
PANEL 1: A red-orange crab stands on sand with a blue sky behind him. Next to him is a paper coffee cup with lid and a brown sleeve.
CRAB: Before Coffee: Crabby.

PANEL 2: The same scene.
CRAB: After coffee: STILL CRABBY.

PANEL 3: The same scene, the crab stares at the viewer.

PANEL 4: The crab turns to the side, thoughtfully.
CRAB: …but better able to articulate why.

The other day, @gruber.foo posted a short post about the MagSafe Duo. I've still got mine, and it's a permanent part of my travel kit. The only complaint I have (and it's not much of one) is that the rubbery outer casing material has discolored over time. It’s otherwise in perfect shape.
From left to right: a coiled USB-C Lightning charge cable with a black Velcro tie sits next to a folded MagSafe Duo charger, and the leftmost keys of an Apple wireless keyboard are visible on the right. The MagSafe Duo’s casing is noticeably discolored with age compared to the white Lightning cable and keyboard keys.An unfolded MagSafe Duo charger showing the iPhone and Watch charging pads. The discoloration of the outer materials is in sharp contrast to the white charging pads and keyboard keys.A MagSafe Duo charger with the Watch charging pads flipped up, with an Apple Watch Ultra series 1 on the pad. The Watch has a weathered green Alpine Loop wristband. An Apple Wireless Keyboard is visible on the right.

My column this week. It’s great to see the emerging consensus that the Alabama grocery tax should be fired into the sun. But Alabama’s entire tax system falls heaviest on those least able to pay, and lightly on those who can.

The grocery tax must go. But Alabama's tax system needs a complete overhaul. | Alabama Reflector
Alabama taxes people based largely on how important the state government views them. And that makes life in this state more expensive.

Our state Constitution still boggles my mind a bit. You don't by any means gotta hand it to the authors, but they definitely knew what sort of state they wanted and they enshrined it into law rather effectively.

Tim Weigel @timweigel.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
The really pernicious thing about the grocery tax, to my mind, is that a LOT of local funding comes from the grocery tax, and the lack of meaningful home rule leaves cities and counties dependent on Montgomery approving any adjustments to the revenue sources even if they want to.
