when I was very young, about 3 ish - I saw some tv show/film with a scary seahorse monster on legs stood in the water on a beach, which stuck in my memory. Finally worked out what the show was - Man from Atlantis! (ep 10) And that scary seahorse thing... not so scary looking now :D

Gradius III SA-1 is one my most proud ROM hacks. Zero slowdown. Gameplay fluid as a rocket. You can either play it unlocked (60 FPS and harder) or play the Origin version (60 FPS with speed controls for fair difficulty). It's available for download and works on real hardware.

Interesting story about improving the accuracy of all PC Engine emulation (hardware and software): Legend of Xanadu has very long animations (3 to 5 minutes) with ADPCM playing in the background. Some emulators gradually de-synchronize after a couple of minutes. We found out why.
