I *did* give up on Control in part because it has one of the worst in-game maps ever devised for a video game. I don't need blinking lights showing me where to go, but a map page that exists but is totally inscrutable? I'm going to put on the devs as a misstep.

I was just playing the Mapuche campaign in Age of Empires II this week, which features Galvarino, a Mapuche who (supposedly) had his hands amputated by the Spanish and replaced them with knives and continued to fight. It seems outlandish, but apparently this kind of thing happened at least once!

I have a group of friends who have a Discord where people can always hang out on voice chat and talk, and it is actually great. It's not a silver bullet but a surprising amount of the time the answer to "I'd just like to talk to a friend, is anyone online?" is "yes!".

This has never been about regular workers in the tech industry and it's always been our corporate exec overlords vs. everyone. It's disheartening when people lash out against the normal human laborers who work in these companies. Trust me, most of my coworkers are just trying to stay sane.
