The first time I visited New York I traveled with a friend originally from there and a Cleveland friend. I still vividly remember the deep annoyance on Cleveland friend's face whenever a native New Yorker said, without malice or irony, "Is that place in Ohio? Did you grow up around a lot of cows???"
