Some folks are holding up the unusually quiet Atlantic hurricane season as some sort of "gotcha" for climate scientists. But low Atlantic hurricane activity has long been the signature of strong El Nino events, as memorably shown back in 1997:

Interesting stuff. Not thought about that before. Given the requirement of runoff for silicate weathering this may weaken the silicate weathering feedback and promote a runaway greenhouse on the long term
