“Just we two” Postcard from my collection, mailed 1909. This is by C.E. Bullard, my favorite of the Victorian/Edwardian cat photographers. He seemed to genuinely love cats and didn't restrain them or cram them into tiny costumes.

This bog butter was deposited in wooden mether in a bog at Tumgesh, County Mayo, likely sometime between the 12th–15th century. Before refrigerators, farmers preserved their butter by burying it in the bog. With a cool, low-oxygen, high-acid environment, the bog was an ideal place to store foods.
