I guess my initial comment here was misguided, but I'd like to say it's still a good idea to support AI free engines where possible. And they exist, e.g. there's Love2D that can do VNs and 2d games if needed. (Needs more coding knowledge than Ren'Py however, but it's easier than Unity or Godot.)

The ones with a no AI policy still exist, and the more people refuse to use the ones with LLM code in them, the more it will be normal for engines to not be written with AI. A potential VN capable choice is Love2D, if you know how to code a basic text dialog: love2d.org github.com/love2d/love#...

Sure, but the ecosystem's just worse everywhere. E.g. some publishers "make" covers now based on AI slop output. Who can you still trust? I'll likely self-publish in part to bypass this issue, but it's a bit sad. 😔

It's relevant and sad for writers too. The scrutiny as well as having to prove yourself, is going to take away from everyone. (Not that I'm saying it's not needed. AI books and stories have no humanness and hence no point, if you ask me.)

Seems like a horrible idea. AI seems to be known to lead to skill erosion especially in kids, to teach wrong things especially to kids. Studies say that schools need less computers, not more.
