Random Genetic Variation Links Personality to Earnings and Wealth

6/12 Result 1: greater genetic propensity toward emotional stability raises earnings. A 1-SD higher PGI increases annual earnings by €1,420, or 3.3% of the sample average. The effects of the other four traits are smaller and not statistically significant

The fiscal year is over. The dying Social, Behavioral, and Economic division of NSF ended up awarding 90 total grants this year, as opposed to ~700-800 in recent past years. Source: grantwitness.org/nsf/analyses...
The graph shows the cumulative number of awards made by month across this fiscal year, as compared to the last 6 fiscal years. The line for this year is total flat until June, but then finally gets up to 91 by October. In prior years the increase starts building earlier and ends on average in the 700-800 range (with variability, last year was only between 400-500).

How insightful it was, how funny it was, how tight the plot was, and whether I could think of "ways to improve it." I gotta say it was impossible to rate romeo & juliet though. It's like rating the taste of water: it's so omnipresent that it's beyond "good" or "bad." Are you a Billy Shakes fan?

Other notes: 1) Dang he's good. Unmatched levels of empathy. 2) I had no idea what was going on, often. 3) In EVERY PLAY besides Richard III/Antony&Cleopatra, someone is disguised at some point. 4) There were SO MANY cuck jokes. 5) King Lear oooooverrated 6) Merry Wives of Windsor underrated

This year I decided to read + rate all the Shakespeare plays (don't tell my HS teachers but I had never read/seen a Shakespeare before!). After just finishing (read in semi-random order), here are the results~
My highest rated plays were Hamlet and Antony and Cleopatra, both of which were perfect 10s. The lowest-rated was Pericles, a 1. Overall, his plays improved in score with year, and comedies and tragedies were higher-rated than histories.

This is really useful knowledge! In the world of personality dev, traits become more stable over time with age -- but there's a potential confound, in that many (most?) childhood questionnaires query the last 2 weeks, and adulthood questionnaires query generally. This suggests it's not an issue.

I would still completely reject the social, political and economic conclusions that hereditarians draw. There is no reason for us to structure our society and ethics in ways that reinforce supposed biological inequalities, rather than in ways which ignore or even mitigate them.
