Thanks to Canadian @shiventaneja.bsky.social for developing these instructions. The CR Box has a high clean air delivery rate for particles in the size ranges of wildfire smoke & should remove a large amount of heavier organic gas-phase components. All at a fraction of cost of other air cleaners.

PSA for anyone dyeing their clothes at home, FOOD POTS ARE NOT DYE POTS. Get a separate pot for dyeing clothing. Do not boil your clothes in a pan you use for food. I would also not recommend using your dye pot for pickling.

I accidentally discovered the "cooling chair" when I was a student working in a hospital without AC. I'd fill big shallow bins from just the cold water tap and wheel them around on a cart, instructing the nurses to submerge their forearms. Worked amazingly well for cooling. Later I discovered:

A foldable lawn-chair like chair with 2 troughs in stead of armrests. These troughs are lined with plastic and are filled with cold water for very effective cooling of a person. One could just use a sink with cold water if they don't have a basin or bucket for this.

This kind of simple spray bottle can save your life. When it’s super hot, in addition to staying out of the sun, drinking lots of water and avoiding strenuous activities, spraying yourself and others with water and fanning does a great job of cooling you down. At the World Youth Day 2002 in … 1/2
