The water may be quiet, but the sky is busy. Two float planes, a few helicopters, and all the commercial flights up much higher.

Aussies, looks like 70 Up will be on SBS on Demand from October 3. And they are also repeating the earlier series on SBS 2 from 6pm on October 3.

Well that's good - Laneway line up has dropped and I feel zero need to go next year. Don't feel old about it, just meh. :)

Today's bird. A much clearer photo as this bird wasn't moving. Recycled Roost by Jarrah Shoaib.

A tawny frogmouth sits on a branch. It is made from recycled bottle tops and other reused materials.
The claws are forks, the tail feathers knives. The beak is the bowls of two spoons.

The scrubby bushland behind the bird is a dull green. The metallic sheen of the flattened bottle caps on the body stand out

Not as good as one of @mikefunnell.bsky.social's pictures. The lorikeet didn't want to pose, and it is from my phone camera. In fact, the photo probably belongs in the crap bird photography group! But a bit of colour when I walked to the library today.

An upside down lorikeet feeding on a red grevillia flower.

Argh, completely stuffed up the timing with The Mortons. I was 3/4 of the way through it and enjoying it, but with all the different things I had to recently I picked up something a bit lighter. And then missed the due date, and of course as it is popular I couldn't renew it. On hold again

Roughly 30 years ago my then specialist would ask me to talk to his trainee doctors about being a patient with ME/CFS and fill in just some of the many gaps in their training. And I find it is so confounding that nothing has substantially changed since then.

Lovely article. I took my kid to one of the huge Treehouse events. Kids running to the stage at the Sydney Town Hall, trying to meet their heroes. A kid dressed up as broccoli. The madness of it all. And a roomful of kids reading the new book as they waited for the event to start.

Why yes, sitting upright for an extended period does cause a lot of pain. Not quite sure why my fingers decided to join in that party, rather than just the headache and general limb tiredness. But oh well. Makes me realise how much I sit on a recline at home.

Making the algorithms work for me. Have been thinking I may want some sort of hammock float to use this summer. So I deliberately clicked through an ad that came up on FB, and now I am being bombarded with more companies offering various floats. Decisions, decisions (after checking they are legit!)

Also, let me be very clear here: we do not need to just push back at policy proposals like this that chase ON voters who will always choose the full-throated racists over half-arsed attempts to win them back. We need to reject the premise that migration *should* be lower

4 books on a shelf.
All Grown Up by Daisy Buchanan
The Children by Melissa Albert
Massif by Garth Nix
The World Beneath Her Feet by Holly Ringland.

There are also 3 little crotcheted plants in white pots, answered a little black kitty toy.

Making itself more like One Nation is not going to win Labor new voters and will only alienate its existing voter base. I cannot fathom why he is doing this.

The NSW One Nation leader speaking at an anti abortion rally last night: "We want to make sure that same-sex, sorry, abortion is stopped." Can't help wondering if that slip up was yet another policy they have. It isn't the wording you'd use for sex selective abortions, which already are illegal
