So, the US political machine hampers every attempt at labor protections and devalues all care work and critical thinking endeavors., yet we're supposed to think those aren't valuable? Clearly, they are important or they wouldn't be the focus of the ire of this administration and its backers.

This is absolutely correct, but I worry that "truth and reconciliation" will sound too foreign to Americans who have long been allergic to truth and/or reconciliation. I'd just say "we're finally going to hold people who broke the law and violated the Constitution accountable for their crimes"

The press coverage of the Academy of Natural Sciences has gone from "Oh how sad" to sounding like a hostage negotiation. Which maybe sounds bad, but elected leaders, the press, the people online, all saying "You don't have to do this, man" is better than mourning. share.inquirer.com/YTQg0s

The Academy's 150-year-old building faces roughly $150 million in deferred maintenance costs. While that may seem daunting, it is not insurmountable.

Every college in this country decided that expelling and/or sending the police to beat the shit out of their own students for the crime of being opposed to genocide was their top priority. That and giving Trump complete control of what they teach. Contrast that with how they treat rapists.

speaking of bubbles, the billboard charts weigh paid streaming more than free or advertised, and no longer weighs YouTube streams AT ALL. so if you HAVE heard a song that’s been #1 on the charts, you could be in even more of a bubble than someone listening to a song with 200 million views

Climate change affects everything. "These threats are not regarded as some far-off or remote contingency: disastrous impacts, for instance on the UK’s food supply, could be expected as soon as 2030, it warns."
What is the report?
In the first report of its kind, the UK’s spy chiefs set out stark warnings of the catastrophic risks to the UK from the collapse of vital ecosystems around the world, driven by the climate crisis and our failures to protect nature. The Guardian has seen part of the report and has spoken to a large number of people familiar with its contents, which warn of food shortages, conflicts, mass migration and other threats to the UK’s national security, including going as far as the risk of nuclear war or the breakdown of society. These threats are not regarded as some far-off or remote contingency: disastrous impacts, for instance on the UK’s food supply, could be expected as soon as 2030, it warns.

A #WarOnWalking. A war on biking. A war on public transit. A war on any transportation choice other than driving. A war on better cities. But a war on cars? Hardly. Cars still get most of the space, rights, budget, prioritization, etc. And any effort to add more choice is immediately attacked.
