So many of the supposed divides in the Democratic caucus simply boil down to "this one will fight for all of us, this one will not" and for the past two years Team Fight is sweeping the board.

Our county runs monthly fix-it clinics where you can bring in broken items and handy volunteers will try and fix or mend them. Our food processor stopped working, and a kind, older guy walked me through troubleshooting, identified a problem with the handle mechanism, and fixed it right there.

tl,dr; Scientists no longer allowed to use federal funding to publish, attend meetings, or talk to the public. They cannot collaborate internationally. Grants can be cancelled for any reason, at any time, political appointees have a final say over what gets funded, and who gets funded.

Root-and-branch reform. There is no saving the current system. All the norms & duct tape holding it together have been shredded, & the current GOP in its form can't be salvaged. Multiparty democracy reforms, starting with 👇 list & fixing every one of our broken, anti-democratic, failed institutions.

Again, the only consolation to this total travesty is that it isn't sustainable & it's going to backfire & accelerate our eventual transition to becoming an actual democracy. We're going to talk now about, & Democrats are going to stop avoiding embracing, real institutional reforms to get there:

The shooting happened on the level above the ballroom where the White House Correspondents Association dinner was.
I don't think people hearing about this -- or even those of us in the room -- realized how far from the president, VP and other guests this incident was. It was on another floor, up some stairs and several sets of security away.
Because the Washington Hilton's hotel and other public spaces were open for other functions, the entire building wasn't secured by the Secret Service, just the specific areas where the WHCA dinner was held, law enforcement officials told @CBSNews
.

Super interesting election coming up: Wisconsin's swing county of Kenosha was ground zero for conservative takeover of school boards, & the book bans & anti-LGBTQ policies that followed. In April, liberals may oust last remaining conservative from the board. Details: boltsmag.org/whats-on-the...
The Kenosha school board, like other boards on which conservatives have gained a foothold this decade, has banned books that touch on LGBTQ themes, and has been the site of wider confrontations over inclusive policies in public education. But liberals secured a strong majority on the board in the 2024 elections, and this spring they could oust the last remaining conservative school board member.
