I'm going to say it loud for the people in the back. Voice actors are artists and replacing them with Gen AI is unethical and immoral. This is different than a screen reader/accessibility tool which isn't giving a "performance." This is a machine trying to imitate human emotion and artistry.

I've launched a GoFundMe to help me get my cats to a safer home in Scotland, and you can pay-what-you-want using the GFM system and get 15 of my books as eBooks as a Thank You every Friday as an update! www.gofundme.com/f/help-autho... That's almost 700,000 words of fiction, pay what you want!

Mark Carney once again proving he's a better leader of the Conservative Party of Canada than Pierre Poilievre. I almost feel bad for PP at this point. Carney is over here doing all the things he would like to say he'll do if he becomes PM, and he has to pretend he's opposed to it.

I am once again asking indie authors NOT to use ChatGPT to write your review query emails. I do not need to read an LLM’s attempt to compare one of my reviews to your book. Just tell me about your book! (I will probably still say no because I am busy as all get-out.)

Anyone else use Zencastr to record and dealt with the "guest stuck in green room" error? My podcast co-host and I have been troubleshooting this for two days.

I hate the *friction* that edutech has brought into our lives. The endless logins that need to be reset. Explaining the excited sequence of buttons required because Microsoft is the least-user-friendly garbage ever. It takes up so much of my time and energy I could spend actually teaching.

As a new Harry Potter trailer makes the rounds, it bears repeating that there’s no way to watch this show without supporting J.K. Rowling’s bigotry and the structural violence she’s inflicting on the trans community.

There is no ethical consumption of HBO’s Harry Potter series

You can’t without supporting Rowling’s transphobic bigotry.

I really hate how every time CBC updates its website it takes down or moves old podcast episodes. The associated articles are often still up, but the actual audio is no longer easily accessible.

Back to school tomorrow. I'm excited to see my lovely colleagues, and meet my students on Thurs. Yet … they say it should get easier every year, but honestly, it kind of gets harder? I feel myself wearing down, breaking down, layer by layer, each year. One day nothing will be left.

AI tech bros want you to believe AI and related tech will replace human labour (somehow). But here we are in 2026, and humans still pick our fruit and veg and stitch our sneakers. Humans still replace outlets and plumb sinks. Machines are wonderful, but society is still people-powered.

We finished the Hartman boss fight (only died like 15 times) but then I went immediately into the Tommasi fight, and I had enough. So I ended a bit early and blew off steam in some very silly Rivals matches 😂

From 2012. We were so innocent! Y'all should have let fictional character Dr. Temperance Brennan run for president, is all I'm saying.

Photo of a still from Bones, season 8, episode 4. Bones has an unimpressed look on her face. The caption reads, "Because Donald Trump was thinking of running."

Maybe the Alan Wake DLC in Control would hit different if I had played Alan Wake. As it is, I'm just frustrated I have to fight the same boss like three separate times because he keeps scampering away when I turn on the lights.
