When they get back in power, Democrats need to go all-in on higher education. We need a campaign of reinvestment in public universities across the country that makes the Morrill Land-Grant Act look like nothing by comparison *and* a GI Bill of Rights-style program of tuition grants.

The vicious and corrupt cycle of monopolization: 1) Corporations argue that their growth is just part of the free market. 2) Use their monopoly power to price gouge consumers and shaft workers. 3) Use profits to make political donations. 4) Lobby against antitrust enforcement. 5) Repeat.

You read that right: Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar will, thanks to the approval of Trump's FCC, own 49.5% of Paramount Warner Brothers, and CBS, and CNN. One of many things to keep in mind when you cast your vote in the next six weeks.

Did Bonta get ANYTHING from Ellison? Because the 30-films-a-year deal that is being reported has been promised for months, and the "editorial board" overseeing CBS and CNN means nothing without teeth. To me it sounds like Ellison threatened to move Paramount out of CA, and Bonta and Newsom folded.

I’m interested in any political imagination for accountability. It has to be proactive & retroactive. It has to be spectacular. And, ideally, it would leave so many of them broke that it actually becomes a deterrent. Being poor is truly all they care about not because they don’t care about prison.

From descriptions of Donald Trump, stated between 2015 and 2018, by Lindsey Graham, a Republican senator from South Carolina.

A race-baiting, xenophobic bigot
The Islamic State’s “man of the year”
The death of the GOP’s relationship with Hispanic voters
A death blow to the GOP’s relationship with women
The world’s biggest jackass
A wrecking ball
A salesman of fear
A politician whose ideas are gibberish
A politician who is incapable of representing a mattress company
A poor representation of a Republican
A president who is unfit for office
A president who sometimes crosses the line
A Twitter user whose tweets are sometimes beneath the office of the presidency
A man who has a blind spot
A thoughtful person
A good person
A strong person
A golfer with an accurate drive and an athletic swing
A president doing a great job
The best hope in decades for peace

We can see this in the ICE flight data. Domestic “round-up” flights are spiking, and some activist flight watchers report the flights are getting fuller. But deportation and removal flights remain steady. This means the concentration camps are getting packed to the brim. It’s awful to comprehend.

"Third Way" liberal politics involves *saying* things that working people love, but *doing* things that sociopathic plutocrats love. It works ...right up until voters notice that you're not *doing* the things. That realisation breeds cynicism and fury and paves the way for fascist strongmen. 2/
