West Point and Annapolis are, among other things, colleges with big engineering components. They have faculty who teach calculus, mechanics, civil engineering, etc. As a stem academic, I personally know they have good people. Without tenure, that will end.

While obviously not on the level of ordering war crimes, this policy change will do real and lasting harm of a different kind. The U.S. service academies have benefited tremendously by being able to attract and retain top academic talent to teach future leaders. That ends with this memo. 🤬

This flight was pretty successful. But, SpaceX needs to refly boosters and Starships within a few hours of return -- little inspection and no real maintenance. They had 3 engines shutdown in flight. I assume you don't relaunch with a bum engine, not replaced or examined?

Hearing now that they WON'T GIVE UP ON ORBIT just yet, according to SpaceX. Awaiting final decision as it's reported by Dan Huot. Looking at the cause of the shutdown, if it doesn't violate flight rules, they will try for Orbit.

Again, one of the R-VAC engines failed; they will use the sea-level Raptor engine for the de-orbit burn. Teams indicated that due to the loss of the engine, SpaceX is NOT GOING FOR ORBIT today. Will not attempt Starlink deployment either.
