Folks. I've found it. The worst video game magazine ad. (from a newly scanned back issue of PC Gamer: archive.gamehistory.org/item/2be3617...)

An ad for an ATI graphics card. There's a man playing something on a computer with a flight stick. Light is shooting out of the computer, and he's recoiling in terror or excitement, holding up his hand to block his view and screaming. Is he playing a flight simulator? A first-person shooter? No. Instead, out of the computer emerges Lara Croft's boobs. Just her breasts and torso, with a gun, boobily sticking through the monitor. The title of the ad is "Lara looks better Flat," because it's an ad for a graphics card compatible with flat-panel monitors. Is this man afraid Lara's going to poke his eyes out and therefore needs a shittier monitor? It is unclear what is happening here and why.

Saying we should all go back to physical media I think misses the point. I actually *like* buying games and movies digitally for a bunch of reasons. What we need is better consumer protections so the things we do buy digitally are actually owned and companies cant delete/revoke access!
