I find it funny when people talk about how games are this art form that can make you feel emotions, but then you bring up something like wanting more games to have timers & people will say its bad design "because it makes me anxious" So emotions only allowed through story, not gameplay. Got it lol.

An excellent demonstration of what happens when people rely too heavily on heuristics, and it also highlights the attitude that drives them. Someone who is legitimately interested in discussing something won't be deterred by finding out their interlocutor doesn't match their initial assessment.

Sometimes I feel like the increased length of games is part of why enemy design has become less hostile And the only time modern games will flirt with real hostility is when there are RPG mechanics that can give you an “out”

I feel like back then the limit for that would just be knowing if a game did well or not. Now got concurrent players, sales, and just a bunch of other stuff. It's especially odd when this is done for single player games

The level of investment people have in how a game is doing commercially is a newer thing in my opinion (past 10ish years) People were doing it before, but it was not as widespread. It was a particular genre of discussion. Not THE discussion.

Started watching the reboot of “A Different World” And so far I gotta say, I am really surprised at how much they integrated the original cast. Vibe is obviously different, but the story is literally a continuation.

Sega is almost as bad as SNK when it comes to fumbling So for me, they can take as much time as they need with Virtua Fighter 6. I need them to be delicate with that one.

SNK boss design is good cause they put you in the mindset you need to succeed in actual matches. Find the cheapest strat you can find and abuse that until it no longer works.
