After a long painfully tiring day at work with downpouring rain outside all day & finish when it's dark outside. It's lovely to walk up to the @spokesafe.bsky.social secure parking, visible by a single light & see the silhouette of my eCargo bike awaiting to get me home safely &
SpokeSafe secure parking illuminated by a single lamppost in the courtyard. And visible in the windows are the silhouette of various cycles securely parked including my eCargo bike.

This article sounds alarming, but British Transport Police are right: CCTV alone is not a deterrent to thieves. To stop thieves taking more bikes at stations across the UK, here are 4 easy to implement tips. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Bike thefts at stations 'decriminalised'
The British Transport Police will not investigate many categories of bicycle theft, the BBC learns.

Saw this lovely beauty whilst parking up at @spokesafe.bsky.social, part of the Colchester Council's eCargo bike library & 1st one I've seen parked here since starting using it. Also noticing the racks are getting rather crowded with lots of (e)bikes of many types.

Great to see a Beryl hire bike installation by our unit at Stevenage station - turning this space into a real mobility hub. Off to the station and need a secure place to park your bike? Or heading to Stevenage for the day and want to get around town? You're covered either way!

Can active travel thrive outside London? When we opened our first location outside the big smoke in 2022, plenty said it wouldn’t work. Well, as we celebrate the reopening of Derbion Cycle Hub, here are 24,000 reasons why active travel works beyond the capital... www.spokesafe.com/blog/cycle-h...

New to me. Secure bike parking in a variety of central London (and elsewhere) locations that you can book for a single trip/day. £3 seems good value too. @spokesafe.bsky.social Clearly needs a lot more locations but this is a start - can see myself using it.

Yesterday was an interesting day cycling to work & back, unfortunately it was busy so fell asleep when I got home & not post this. Yesterday morning I got an email from Spokesafe to inform me of an issue with my designated parking. No biggie really as they were happy to let me lock up at another 1/2

50 mins. Ride back from work, 4.33 miles in 34 minsScreenshot of email I received yesterday from Spokesafe saying "Hi Wolf,

Hope you are well.

Just a note that a member has parked in your space today. I'm not sure if you are planning to travel in or not, but wanted to let you know that a member has informed us that they have parked in space 9 instead of their assigned rack.

If it is helpful, we can ask them to confirm whether time they expect to pick their bike up.

Alternatively, we are happy for you to use another rack at the facility - please just let us know which rack.

Our apologies for the inconvenience."

The perfect bike stand. The Sheffield stand is already great as it provides locking points at front and back. But its flaw is if it's removed from the ground due you can just slip the locks off the bottom. This fixes that with a bar. Now, a thief would have to steal your bike *and* the stand.

I'm enjoying the £10/month subscription to park my ebike securely whilst working & have a safe secure place to park if I ever shop in Colchester city centre too. And having a monthly subscription, I also have a designated rack so guaranteed to have a spot every time I need it.

Bikes allow us to experience the city differently, unshielded, present, human. My wife rides with elegance and ease, dressing for her destination, not her commute. This is the kind of vibrant, people-first city design we need, where bikes bring life to our streets instead of cars dominating them.
