After a long painfully tiring day at work with downpouring rain outside all day & finish when it's dark outside. It's lovely to walk up to the @spokesafe.bsky.social secure parking, visible by a single light & see the silhouette of my eCargo bike awaiting to get me home safely &

4. Flexible membership models. Busy high-turnover sites are safer than empty ones. But most secure facilities only annual memberships - limiting their usage to just regular commuters. Expand who can use your facility & when.

3. Simple sign up processes. While it's tempting to think you'll increase the number of cyclists at your station by reducing friction, a sign up process means you'll know who is using your facility. A brazen thief will now have to submit their info before stealing a bike.

2. Digital access control systems. Installing an access control system (ACS) means entrances are tracked and recorded. Not only is this handy for security - your cycle parking facility will now collect usage data & provide you with unique transport behaviour insights.

We've since rolled out this model in other locations, including the Dolphin shopping centre in Poole and Southside in London too. We also manage a pretty popular former retail unit over in Newport! So if you have an empty retail unit going spare... Why not transform it into secure cycle parking?

So when the unit previously occupied by the Hub was leased to a new tenant last summer, our partners at Derbion found an alternative unit for the facility straight away. We're excited to get started in our new home!

And between it's opening in June 2022, and it's temporary closure while Derbion found it's new home in July 2024, Derbion Cycle Hub generated over 24,000 cycle journeys. Do people cycle outside of London? You bet they do.

New to me. Secure bike parking in a variety of central London (and elsewhere) locations that you can book for a single trip/day. £3 seems good value too. @spokesafe.bsky.social Clearly needs a lot more locations but this is a start - can see myself using it.
