I've been a teacher at my school for almost 20 years now and ever since my first day, I've thought the year 5/6 building entrance looks like an angry monster. Well, this Halloween season, with the help of my year 6 students, we decorated the building just like I imagined. 😊

Joined the local group ride this morning to an orchard for cider donuts, but fell to the lure of Caramel Apple Cup. Gorgeous weather for it!

Slow and steep start today, lot of struggle, eventual 4 miles of gravel to avoid Mt. Mansfield (home of Stowe ski resort). Leaving Ashley (and my bags) at our late lunch spot, she's getting a ride from the people we're staying with, I'm doing the last 30-some.

We've been up, lounging/working/eating cinnamon buns a bakery brought us for hours, temp has only climbed to 39* but we've got a longer day so can't put it off much longer. I haven't worn leg warmers in years - just stayed inside when it got cold!

Tomorrow my friend Ashley and I start biking to Montreal to watch the last weekend of the cycling road world championships. I've been thinking about this (with varying levels of believing it was real) since it was announced in 2022 that worlds would be in Montreal this year - now it's almost real!

It’s very simple. A reality TV host became dictator because he turned down a role for Sharknado 4 and that’s why the king of outer space, who cheats at Diablo, got to kill Africa. Now the economy is controlled by a sex cult that has something to do with Harry Potter fanfic because of robots.

FUN FACT: The reason we sell petrol by the litre but measure performance by mpg is because in the 1970s oil shock, British pumps had exactly the same issue and it was easier to put stickers over the word "gallon" rather than retrofitting all the dials.

You can be an independent and vote in the R or D primary here, and the number of people showing up to vote who seem to genuinely have to think about it when asked which ballot they want is discouraging. How much research could you possibly have done? Name recognition wins again??

Two cats on a platformed tower. One is on the lower level, head hidden behind the middle section. The second is on the top tier with only their head showing.

I like this Buttersafe ( www.buttersafe.com/2026/08/06/g... )
comic, 5 vertically stacked panels
1: guy in a red shirt behind the wheel of a car, zoom lines all around "Oh no! My brakes aren't working!"
2: that guy, from the side, smiling at an angel outside his car window, "Whoa! Are you my guardian angel?!"
3: Angel: "No."
4: car from the outside, front crumpling into the immovable outstretched hand of the angel
5: the angel hovers in front of the ruined car, turned to give a thumbs up to a woman walking a dog, presumably the person he is a guardian angel for.

Panel one shows an eldritch god, a skeletal possum like creature with large antlers, saying "I AM AS OLD AS THE FOREST ITSELF".
Panel two shows a stick figure saying, "But you must have been a baby at some point?"
Panel three shows the eldritch god saying "Well. Yes."
Panel four shows a tiny eldritch baby sitting on a rock, his antlers just little twigs.

Ray Bradbury never drove a car at all. Judging from his 1951 short story The Pedestrian, not driving was an act of defiance in the face of tyranny. The Pedestrian link: www.libraryofshortstories.com/onlinereader... Happy #BicycleBirthday, Ray Bradbury! August 22 (1920-2012) (RB reads w/ intro 👇️)
Back cover of a book featuring a photo of author Ray Bradbury riding a bicycle. Text: Photo by Helen Miljakovich. Ray Bradbury. Though a specialist in space, Ray Bradbury's favorite form of transportation is the bicycle, and even when traveling across the country, he prefers the train to a plane. Born in Waukegan, Illinois, Mr. Bradbury's first short story was published in 1941. Since then he has written television and film scripts, plays and articles, and hundreds of stories, winning wide critical acclaim for his work. Mr. Bradbury lives in Los Angeles, California, with his wife and four daughters.
