There is a lot of "oh dear" to go around in the results of this very thorough Pew study on the issues with synthetic samples, but this strikes me as particularly "oh dear" www.pewresearch.org/data-labs/20...
AI polling results can lean on racial or partisan stereotypes

In many cases, our AI poll took beliefs or attitudes that are reasonably common among a particular subgroup and portrayed them as nearly ubiquitous. For example, our AI poll would indicate that:

97% of Hispanic adults are at least somewhat likely to follow the World Cup (while the actual share is 43%).

Wage growth just keeps slowing. And yes, wages are rising slower than prices, and no, that's not how economic growth is meant to work.
Line chart titled "Nominal wage growth is slowing" showing year-over-year growth in average hourly earnings of private-sector workers. Wage growth has declined steadily from a peak of 5.9% in early 2022 to 3.0% in September 2026, the slowest rate in the series. This nearly 3 percentage point drop over four and a half years indicates significantly cooler labor market conditions, with the deceleration accelerating in recent months as growth fell from the 3.7-3.9% range in 2025 to the low 3% range currently.

I think the most accurate expression of the labor market is your odds of getting fired continue to drop, job openings are growing modestly, but employers are still somewhat reluctant to pull the trigger on hiring. But something has to give.

"Does your process knowledge, all that non-digitized stuff that doesn’t show up in training data that you learned from living as a human being in the messy sticky fuzzy-edged physical world, tell you something different from what the AI “analysis” is telling you?"
So here’s how I would urge you all to celebrate Stanislav Petrov Day this year. Remember the example of the man who disobeyed orders to ignore what the cutting-edge computer system was telling him to do, and saved untold millions of lives in the process. Whatever an AI is telling you, whether it’s a warning of a national security threat or a business “efficiency” recommendation or healthcare “cost-saving” or personal “communication tips,” do not trust it unreservedly. Do not let yourself become a meat-puppet for unthinking software because it’s easier in the short run. Do not take irreversible actions, especially actions putting life at risk, due to AI guidance.

Disobey, always, rather than do something barbarous.

Fact: Residential contractors compensate workers at *below-avg rates*. A great divide in unionization %s b/t residential & nonres construction rates partly drive the res v nonres pay gap. Union rates also help drive up *non-union* nonres contractors' pay. Source: BLS NCS, unpublished estimates.
Key Findings

Residential specialty trades are below the overall private-sector average on both wages and benefits.

Wages are $3.81/hr below average.
Benefits are $4.29/hr below average.

Nonresidential specialty trades are above the overall private-sector average.

Wages are $5.13/hr above average.
Benefits are $4.46/hr above average.

The entire $17.70/hr gap between residential and nonresidential specialty trades can be viewed as:

Residential being $8.10/hr below the private-sector norm.
Nonresidential being $9.60/hr above the private-sector norm.

This framing makes the split especially clear: residential specialty construction looks like a below-average compensation segment of the labor market, whereas nonresidential specialty construction looks like an above-average compensation segment, with the largest divergence occurring in benefits.

So this is real incident, twisted into a false narrative in three ways: (1) intent: the motivation for discarding mail had nothing to w/ the election; (2) exaggerated impact: the discarded ballots aren't enough to affect outcomes; (3) ignored remedies: affected voters could get replacement ballots.
Infographic titled "Six Ways 'Rigged Election' Rumors Mislead." A two-column table pairs six labeled categories with descriptions. The first three categories are:

No Evidence: The rumor is entirely unsubstantiated. There's no evidence to support the rumor.

Fake/False Evidence: The rumor is based on fake or synthetic evidence (e.g. AI-generated content), manipulated evidence, or false witness testimony.

Misinterpreted Evidence: This rumor is based upon real evidence that has been misinterpreted or intentionally mischaracterized to create a false impression.

A black banner then introduces the final three categories: "Real Evidence, Real Voting Issue, False Narrative."

Exaggerated Impact: The rumor centers on a real issue with voting but falsely insinuates or exaggerates impact on election results.

Ignored Remedies: The rumor centers on a real issue with voting but ignores and/or obscures the remedies that would address this problem

False Blame: The rumor centers on a real issue with voting but either falsely attributes intent for an accidental issue or places blame on an innocent party.
