This report by Levi Martin is both smart and fair in laying huge and justified criticisms on Rubin’s highly problematic report. I’ve said sociology does have a lot of problems, but it was a total sham for Washington U and Vanderbilt leaders to pay Rubin for this joke. osf.io/preprints/so...

this is not a proper geospatial image analysis but rather me quickly grabbing EU Copernicus imagery from the 24th & today to see if it's possible to assess material movement and flooding impact in the catastrophic event in Nepal.
A satellite image amalgamation from EU Copernicus imagery. True color imagery from August 24th layered with moisture index images for the August 24th and August 27th. Yellow and red areas are areas of change and impact. Cloud over and particulates obscure some areas of interest.

Just finished reading _Los Gusanos_ by the great John Sayles. Surprised to say this guy writes novels as good as he makes movies. His movies like Lonestar, Matewan, Limbo, Casa de Los Babys, Men with Guns are some of my favorites. The book was terrific. www.goodreads.com/book/show/13...
