Control Resonant is surprisingly melancholy. Behind all the big, trippy action you pass by a lot of small tragedies and people struggling to do their best in the wake of pretty overwhelming shit I can see why some folks felt the story starts off simple, but this thing's got some real weight to it

The exploration in Control Resonant is so good. I keep stumbling into little parts of the map I didn't realize I haven't explored yet There's so much to see but it doesn't feel *busy* the way some open world things do. Feels like a very natural evolution of Control's scope in a less confined space

Whatever they're paying their technical artists at Remedy, it's not enough. They're still unquestioned champs of taking photorealistic rendering and then doing nightmarish things to it. The vapor effect that pours off Hiss enemies is still *so* good.

It didn't click until I got it in my hands on it and made some progress out into the world, but Control Resonant feels like Remedy's take on zone fiction. Stalker/Annihilation "isolated area where the rules have just... broken" adjacent ideas I didn't think I could love it more

And with that, I've finally finished every mainline Metroid My feelings on Return of Samus are pretty much the same as the original. Incredibly impressive work and I have nothing but respect for how it adapted itself to the the Gameboy, but I enjoy it more with a map handy and some rewind available

Rolled credits on the original Metroid! I'm not an "NES Hard" kind of guy by any stretch so it took a fuckton of rewinding and a map I found, but it was quite fun. Might not be my favorite in the series but I have nothing but endless respect for what it accomplished. Nice to finally see it through
