It’s so infuriating that the people empowered to do something about it are acting like they don’t have any power. I’m so exhausted.

The image is of a four panel comic.
The first panel shows Sarah, the protagonist, working at a desk. A brain next to her says, "We need to take breaks!"
The second panel zooms in on Sarah's face. She is annoyed. She says, "What if I don't listen to you?"
The third panel shows the brain smiling.
The fourth panel shows the brain reaching towards a lever. The brain says, "I'LL MAKE YOU."

These folks pick and choose when objects have agency. Their toys might be taken? “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.” Their toys may not make back their investment and they need a bailout, “AI will kill us”. It’s so weird how the choice of agency always shields them from responsibility.

This has gotten worse in the last decade or so. It’s become difficult to talk with people I genuinely like. And the moral binary of typical/divergent has codified into the belief that it’s more important for people to talk than it is for others to feel heard. www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...

A Labor Day reminder: having a job is no longer enough to protect millions of Americans from homelessness. For many workers, the greatest threat isn't losing their job. It's that their job will never pay enough, never provide enough hours, never offer enough stability to keep them housed.

Hummingbirds.
A four panel comic. In panel 1, a rufous hummingbird flies down toward a large hummingbird feeder with as many as 6 holes on top. He thinks "The humans put up a new feeder!" In panel 2, he lands on the feeder and gazes down at it. He thinks "It's huge. Many of us could feed here at once." In panel 3, we see a close up view of the hummingbird, and he's thinking "This could end the ancient rivalries. Usher in an era of peace. Interesting." In panel 4, an Anna's hummingbird hovers over the feeder and says "Hey, can I have some necta-" and the rufous hummingbird says "No."
