As part of boot camp, Alpha School students apparently have their heart rates monitored as they watch recorded videos of their parents critiquing them. This activity takes place in front of their classmates, and students must keep their heart rates within 10 percent of their baseline to pass.

That's not to say "You kids have it easy" or anything. This was right before people started speaking out about crunch, and the studio got a lot better about it in the following years. I haven't crunched at all since about 2011, so what the Doom team dealt with was super excessive for the modern day.

Back in 2004, I worked on a project that did at least 7 months of what we called "Death March" crunch. 6 days a week (sometimes 7), 10-14 hours a day. I had to beg for a day off to see my partner because it had been weeks since we shared a meal. The next project at that studio did that for a year.

I've never seen such an effort to censor a document as I have the Amnesty International report on gender critical groups because of JK Rowling. They removed the report from the Wayback Machine and now I got a DMCA strike on my Google Drive for having it. It was deleted and removed from my account.
