I've been wondering: What makes someone worth remembering? History doesn't always preserve the most important people. Sometimes it simply preserves the best documented ones. That's why historians keep looking for the missing voices.🗃️

On September 4th, 1888, George Eastman registered the trademark Kodak and received a patent for his camera that used film on a roll. The company that Eastman founded was the first in the U.S. to successfully mass market photographic film products. 🧵 #Photography #Business #History #OTD
An early ad for the Kodak camera, with the saying:
"You press the button, we do the rest."
The camera came pre-loaded with enough film to take 100 pictures. After that, the photographer mailed the camera to Kodak, which developed the photos and sent them back to the user with their camera - re-loaded with enough film to take another 100 pictures.

The image described by the post. A red vertically aligned rectangular cylinder beside a gray impression of the cylinder seal on clay. On the seal itself you can see the tree with the sun above it.
