I just had the best phone call I have had since I began interviewing people for my next book. The STS-107 crew lost their lives in a tragic accident, but one of the Principal Investigators for an STS-107 experiment just told me about the ways that the experiment has since benefited spaceflight.

On this 25th anniversary, I am considering the question of the best resources by which to understand the events of September 11, 2001. My personal choice for the best book I have read is Mitchell Zuckoff's Fall and Rise (2019). Many of the best choices at the moment are journalistic accounts, but

We join the rest of the world in mourning the passing of entertainment icon Dolly Parton ❤️
A photo of Dolly Parton at Yankee Stadium circa 1987. Parton is wearing a Yankees warmup jacket and Yankees cap. Standing behind her are players Dave Righetti and Rick Cerone, kneeling in front are Ron Guidry and Mike Pagliarulo. The players are all wearing Yankees home uniforms and caps. The scoreboard in the background reads “Yankees Welcome Dolly Parton.”

As a spaceflight historian, I was also struck by this scene in Tomorrowland because this is where the Rocket to the Moon and then Mission to Mars attractions operated from the 1950s to the 1980s. How many people who contributed to the space program were inspired by this Southern Cal. attraction?
