Rep. Delia C. Ramirez has introduced a bill that would abolish not just ICE, but the DHS altogether, repealing the 2002 law establishing the agency and replacing it with one focused on protecting civil and human rights.

Despite my hating on the small scope of this, I’m pretty impressed that they went from announcement to execution in like, a month? Without providing opportunities for insane drivers and Tribune columnists to shriek about it? Now bring that energy to reinforcing and expanding it

Yeah. Also... We can't know. But if another 2.3M Dems in CA, NY, IL, etc. had voted for Harris? No change in the EC but there's a decent chance that a lot of the compliant behavior from the media, universities, law firms, etc. doesn't happen...and *maybe* Hegseth et al. don't get confirmed.

I don’t think anything will ever change that pick from being a reach, but going from “laughable bust” to “competent contributor” is still a big win

Kanye’s work I do believe is pretty groundbreaking, for the most part. But that’s still not enough for me to look past the literal N*zism. Pretty wild that it’s not a dealbreaker for so many others

Based on the other candidates, I imagine I'll end up voting for him again (Kam Buckner or Andre Vasquez would be my ideal choices). But he NEEDS to do better with appointments, not being willing to shell out money so recklessly (ahem, Bears), and just attention-to-detail stuff like that

Crime is such a good example. I’m confused how people can admit something weird is happening there but apparently people’s opinions on the economy are somehow right?

It is not. I won't pretend that it is. I won't say nice things about people who are pretending that it is

Best editorial I’ve seen all year from the Chicago Tribune yesterday. It’s undeniable that local communities have historically been excluded from consequential decisions, but the pendulum has swung too far in the other direction. We now live in an era defined by weaponized resistance to change.

Sorry to be a hater but the fact you need to wake up super early on a Sunday (and pay a fee) to enjoy a car-free DLSD is a sick joke. If you get there at 9, you have 90 minutes before rolling closures begin. G-d forbid drivers are inconvenienced. ATA has been content with scraps for 25 years.

Not sure why the Sox need a new ballpark, but I have to admit that having it right next to Union Station and calling it "The Railyards" is pretty cool. Though I do like that both Wrigley and Rate Field are directly connected via the Red Line

If El-Sayed crushes Stevens tonight, as seems likely, it would be nice if we could finally do away with this notion that AIPAC can single-handedly buy elections. If anything, this race shows how much their influence has diminished inside the party over the past few years. Good riddance, too.
